Verse 13: We should widen out in our affections by getting to know and helping those of different races, ages, and nationalities. In this way we can imitate Jehovah God.

Hi Kurt; I like what you said regarding "our own whims, emotions, and personalities," and that "we must keep the discipline of God's intentions within us." The Word, "LET this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus;" like in the Proverbs, "LET thine heart retain MY WORDS;" our discipleship is toward moral excellence out of a good and honest heart, PROVING what is acceptable TO GOD in TRUTH.
  • Kurt on 2 Corinthians 6 - 6 years ago
How can we bring the Gospel to sinners without sinning? Take another Christian and have an entry and exit plan. Arm yourself with the Truth (Jesus), and the Spirit. Allow God to work his love towards sinners thru us, yet remain safely separate in the Armour, lest we may fall. We are subject to our own whims, emotions, and personalities, yet we must keep the discipline of God's intentions within us

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
  • BSP on 2 Corinthians 6 - 6 years ago
Verse 2 is quoting Isaiah 49:8. Now is the especially acceptable time. We don't want to miss the purpose of God's undeserved kindness.

Jim: Yes, Unevenly Yoked in anything: But its mostly used for Marriage. Most believe They Will draw the other to Christ,But---? One Looks to The Light the other to Darkness. We can help the Lost. • Jim Kirkpatrick on 2 Corinthians 6 - 6 years ago
Being unequally yoked with unbelievers is correct, but it means not to run with them not to restrain from witnessing to them.
  • Wayne on 2 Corinthians 6 - 7 years ago
Ask God for a Christian young lady or young man to marry. God knows what you need and where they are. And ask the Holy Ghost to bring your hearts together in His love. I did and been married, to same Christian woman, 52 years. God Bless.

My son,Bruce died Thanksgiving day 2012. He was 42 years old. He eat dinner went outside, fell over. Aneurysm. His Mom died five years earlier. Doing dishes, just fell over.Aneurysm. With his death my heart was crushed. Yet at the same time I can Rejoice! My second wife died Dec.11 2013. Lost. His will be done. He's the calm in the storm. The peace that passes all understanding. Yes we can Rejoice

V.10 - As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; - I've had 2 recent experiences with this - as I know many of you have. About 2 1/2 mos. ago my 46 yr. old son had a heart attack, his heart stopped, they got it going again; he's fine now. Then this past Dec. 13 I came down with flu/pneumonia for 2 wks. Mighty prayer was sent up for us both of us by the ch. I'm fine, but thru it all I could REJOICE!!

Christina: the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband. 1Corinthians 7:10-16 Both will not go to heaven only those who are born again. Unevenly yoked will be hard. A believer should never marry an unbeliever! Have you been called John6:44,forgiving 1John1:9,you will be:Matthew3:11. You will know, impossible not to know 2Corinthians 5:17
  • Christina on 2 Corinthians 6 - 7 years ago
Being unequally yoked can defile the believer,as well as the believer never inherit God's Kingdom
  • Barbara on 2 Corinthians 6 - 8 years ago
This world is not our home so why get comfortable here. We do not belong here if we are Christians. It is like visiting. It is not our home and we dont belong so we dont make ourself too comfortable.
  • Ibukun Abioye. on 2 Corinthians 6:17 - 8 years ago
Separating yourself from among them does not mean in isolation, don't completely isolate yourself from them. But, you don't do what they count as a normal thing. There is this adage that says and I quote "If you cannot beat them, you join them". Pls, don't join them because light and darkness cannot stay together, its a fact that darkness cannot withstand light.
  • Lilian on 2 Corinthians 6 - 8 years ago
We need to invite the Holy Spirit in every moment of our lives. God is available all the time and His door is always open. We must obey his words and commandments. We must meditate his words day and night all things that we need will be added and we will be always prosper. Listening to his words are more powerful than prayers. Our prayers must be completed with thanksgiving and praising God for his love endures forever. His love and mercy is always with us. Thanks to Jesus for his precious blood that shed for us. Amen

Separate yourself from anything you used to worship or do still worship other than Me. Draw close to me with your whole heart, let nothing worldly or dirty come between us, worship only Me and I will be everything you need.
  • Babatunde Fadairo on 2 Corinthians 6:2 - 9 years ago
God want us to be very attentive to him and he want us to call him and find him at any acceptable time, the fact is that all times are acceptable in the site of the lord but we must make our self available.
  • Prophet Bob Blessings on 2 Corinthians 6 - 9 years ago
This verse 6 powerfully says that when you have change everything becomes new, so we ust not be yoked with things that are negative to God.
  • Tony Searight on 2 Corinthians 6 - 9 years ago
Paul truly is an example of suffering for Christ Sake......
  • Andrew Ojiezel,Lagos,Nigeria on 2 Corinthians 6 - 9 years ago
I see 2 Corinthians 6 as command to all Christians to be separated from every work of darkness. That once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord, then you must not have fellowship with sins works of darkness .You must be distinguised from agent s of darkness.
  • Evangelist Chidinma on 2 Corinthians 6 - 10 years ago
Many don 't understand it when God says come out from among them.touch not the unclean, separate ourselves from them and l will receive you and you shall become my sons and daughters. We must separate from them as we can not be unequally yoked with the ones we condemn their actions and expect to become sons and daughters of God. God is holy and we must be holy to maintain relationship with him because sin separates us from God so we must be received by God as we coming out from among them.May the Lord give us wisdom to understand what separation means though in the world but not as the world your character and actions as a believer of the word of God will do the math.tThe way you live will convince God and the world that you separated from the worldly manner as you please God be bless.
  • Danny on 2 Corinthians 6 - 10 years ago
I agree with Carol. For the traditions religious of men are not the traditions of God. Almighty God says to keep my laws my judgments and my statutes and I will receive you.
  • Allan on 2 Corinthians 6:17 - 10 years ago
It means to separate yourself from the world and embrasing the body of CHRIST Separation not isolation I used to be a smoker drinker and use to do drugs it would be foolish to socialize with people who have such bad habits The spiritual and the flesh will always be in oppotition The LORD called every believer out of bondage to serve HIM alone as he is a jealous GOD
  • Ayuk on 2 Corinthians 6 - 10 years ago
Its good to know its so clear God and idol cannot mix
  • STANLEY on 2 Corinthians 6:14 - 10 years ago
You must have a common ground that is same religion A good example is Samson he married a philistine and disaster followed Ahab married Jezebel and idol worship was introduced in lsrael So many a times you are influenced in the wrong direction instead of you influencing
  • Donn on 2 Corinthians 6:14 - 10 years ago
I dated a guy for 1 and a half years. He left me 8 months ago. However through our entire relationship and even when I met him I knew he didn't believe in God. I thought I could pray for him or try and make him see how much he needs the Lord. He didn't want to know any of it. When he left me I was so torn up, I ended up in hospital with depression. Its taken me till now to realise and listen to God's voice.... I don't want or need a non-believer in my life...let alone be married to one someday. I cannot believe I was so torn up about him when he doesn't even love and serve my Lord.

I think this scripture deserves more attention during preaching and Church services and I fully agree with the scripture. I was backsliding in my relationship with the Lord and I didn't even notice it because all I could see was this guy I was dating.

  • Terry on 2 Corinthians 6:17 - 10 years ago
I agree with Albert's comment. I believe it means separate yourself from unbelievers, those that are known by their fruits, lest they bring the believer down. Only a remnant are God's people. Some think they are but, the lifestyle they live speaks otherwise.
