2Co 7:9 Now I rejoice. Not because they were made sorry, but that their sorrow brought repentance. Observe, (1) that regret is not repentance; (2) that sorrow is not repentance; (3) that godly sorrow works repentance, or, in other words, repentance results from godly sorrow, or sorrowing in a way pleasing to God (2Co 7:10).

2 Corinthians 7:8 For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. In this letter, Paul never repented of sin, Paul repented of his way. In all 12 Paul's epistles, Paul never uses repentance as the final step to salvation. Repentance is change of way.

I think Godly sorrow and repentance are the only way can be saved

Ronnie: The spirit referred to here in 'the filthiness of the spirit' is the part of the soul called the 'heart' which we use to feel, not our 'spirit man' which is sealed by the Holyspirit when we are born again. Notice how this spirit heart of the soul is used interchangably together in these verses: Isa 65:14, Ps 51:17, 34:18, 51:10, Eze 36:26, etc

I think sorrow is not part of repentance but it can lead to repentance. What do you think?
