Bible Commentary for 2 Corinthians 4:7

Wesley's Notes for 2 Corinthians 4:7

4:7 But we - Not only the apostles, but all true believers. Have this treasure - Of divine light, love, glory. In earthen vessels - In frail, feeble, perishing bodies. He proceeds to show, that afflictions, yea, death itself, are so far from hindering the ministration of the Spirit, that they even further it, sharpen the ministers, and increase the fruit. That the excellence of the power, which works these in us, may undeniably appear to be of God.

People's Bible Notes for 2 Corinthians 4:7

2Co 4:7 We have this treasure in earthen vessels. The treasure of the knowledge of Christ and of the ministry of the gospel of life. Perhaps his enemies pointed to his sorrows as a proof that he was not so favored as a minister of Christ. A splendid treasure was placed in a fragile, cheap earthen vessel. Then it was manifest that the great work wrought was the power of God, and not from us, the apostles and evangelists.

It means we have know the power the light and the knowledge of God , but we are inside earthly vessel [body] Cast down as we are from the sons of god and the daughters of men ... a crossbreed . We are made in the image of our creator , we were given their knowledge . . . we have allowed our identity to be stolen . . . . Jesus taught mysterys , you wont understand . . .until you really do have faith .....enough to grow up , Your KJV was not even translated from original texts . . . . .Jesus did leave clearer messages in scriptures and accounts by people who actually knew him . . the treasure that is in the believer represents the power of God the power to lay hands on the sick and they recover, the power that is in us is God working through us to perform that which is pleasing to him the power to speak a mountain in your life and command it to be moved this power is an excellent treasure that is bestowed on us because of our continued relationship with Him and His grace and mercy that is extended to us because Jesus absorbed the wrath of God that was meant for humanity because of our sin it made us righteous to receive Gods power to live within us
