17Behold, thou art called a Iew, and restest in the Law, and makest thy boast of God: 18And knowest his will, and approuest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the Law, 19And art confident that thou thy selfe art a guide of the blinde, a light of them which are in darkenesse: 20An instructour of the foolish, a teacher of babes: which hast the forme of knowledge and of the trueth in the Law: 21Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thy selfe? thou that preachest a man should not steale, doest thou steale?

People's Bible Notes for Romans 2:19
Ro 2:19 A guide of the blind. It was God's purpose that in choosing Israel the Israelites should become teachers of the truth; but their sin was that while they boasted of this privilege they failed to do their duty. See Mt 15:14. Such a boast as this was current among the Jews of Paul's time. He heaps phrase on phrase to exalt their claims, in order to show in what follows how far short their lives fell of their professions.
