Wesley's Notes for Revelation 10:11

10:11 Thou must prophesy again - Of the mystery of God; of which the ancient prophets had prophesied before. And he did prophesy, by measuring the temple, #Rev 11:1|; as a prophecy may be delivered either by words or actions. Concerning people, and nations, and tongues, and many kings - The people, nations, and tongues are contemporary; but the kings, being many, succeed one another. These kings are not mentioned for their own sake, but with a view to the holy city, #Rev 11:2|. Here is a reference to the great kingdoms in Spain, England, Italy, &c., which arose from the eighth century; or at least underwent a considerable change, as France and Germany in particular; to the Christian, afterward Turkish, empire in the east; and especially to the various potentates, who have successively reigned at or over Jerusalem, and do now, at least titularly, reign over it.

People's Bible Notes for Revelation 10:11

Re 10:11 Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. There is portrayed last another consequence of eating the book. To prophesy is not only to foretell future events, but to declare the message of God. This message had been declared once by the apostles, both in person, and by those who preached their words. Apostolic preaching had almost ceased for many ages before the Reformation. John, the representative of the apostolic body, commanded to prophesy, implies a revival of apostolic preaching among all people and nations.

well it would appear we have an answer as to who one of the two witnesses will be, John must prophesy again before many!
  • Gary Olsen
He has prophesied before many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings. The Word of God is not for a long ago time and place. It has lived and spoken to us down through the ages.
  • Bob
Revelation chapter 10,verse 11. How can John prophesy in this verse if he is in prison?
  • Marvin Mobley
I thank God for every day whether I thank it is good or bad , think Revelation shouid bring a person closer To God. I try to understand that every one have to know God in their hearts for their self to know God is to love God.

I hate to burst your bubble, but The Most High does not love everyone! Read Romans 9:13

Ronald; I hope you don't mind me jumping in here. I agree with you! A few examples: The fourth and final kingdom would be hard and cruel as iron, but mixed with the miry clay; that's the world right now! Jesus told the Jews, "I came in my Father's name and you receive me not; another shall come in his own name and him you will receive." even him whom they WILL NOT GIVE THE HONOR OF THE KINGDOM!
