1:23 To depart - Out of bonds, flesh, the world. And to be with Christ - In a nearer and fuller union. It is better to depart; it is far better to be with Christ.

Php 1:23 Having a desire to depart. His feelings would lead him to choose to depart from the flesh. See Php 1:24. And to be with Christ. Note that with Paul to depart from the "flesh", the body, is followed by going immediately to Christ.
