People's Bible Notes for Matthew 18:21

Mt 18:21 Then came Peter to him. The Lord had just spoken of the duty of seeking reconciliation with those who trespassed against us (Mt 18:15-17), and there seems to have been some doubt in the mind of Peter how far this principle should be carried. Till seven times? It is stated that the Jewish Rabbis held that forgiveness must be extended to one who confessed his fault, but this was limited to three repetitions of the offense. Peter had an idea that the Savior's rule would insist on still greater forbearance.

Discussion for Matthew 18

  • I, even I, am that Michael Isaac Dale:
How is it that you boast of yourself, saying, By my own sight I did much! and, By my own hand I obtained much! Yet ye ignore the grace of God then, and confess not your own sins now: saying, God is all powerful and no man can resist his will, so why should I repent? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

Tsk tsk... Those of you pushing denominational worship and "rule of the church" are actually WRONG... Many times over the Holy Bible warns of "the sects" and being "decieved by false teachings"... I mean according to each denomination, everyone else is doomed to the lake of fire... Nowhere in the Bible does it state that we must report to a designated building to worship him...

Jesus teaches us in this chapter to cut of anything or anyone who tempts us in life. But also a few verses down He teaches that if he is our brother or sister in Christ, before we cut them of there are steps of trying to help them. If those steps don't work, only then cut them off. Praise God for this wisdom!

Verse 8~If something or someone is making us stumble spiritually we may need to take strong action and get away from that person or thing and draw close to Jehovah God.

35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. (at home, in the streets, jobs, daily we fight with with anger because from the heart we are tempted to not-forgive as direct by Jehovah /GOD. Wow! Wow! Wow!
