6:20 And preserved him - Against all the malice and contrivances of Herodias. And when he heard him - Probably sending for him, at times, during his imprisonment, which continued a year and a half. He heard him gladly - Delusive joy! While Herodias lay in his bosom.

    Mark 6:48, In the world, God, watches over us. and He knows when we are 'toiling in rowing'. He knows when the circumstances Wind are contrary to us. But God wants us to have faith. and God will walk to us.. but we must have faith and be mindful to not look elsewhere but only to God, with prayer..
