9And loe, the Angel of the Lord came vpon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid. 10And the Angel said vnto them, Feare not: For behold, I bring you good tidings of great ioy, which shall be to all people. 11For vnto you is borne this day, in the citie of Dauid, a Sauiour, which is Christ the Lord. 12And this shall be a signe vnto you; yee shall find the babe wrapped in swadling clothes lying in a manger. 13And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the heauenly hoste praising God, and saying,

Lu 2:11 City of David. A term applied to the village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of the greatest among Israel's kings; David's greater Son begins his earthly career in his ancestor's home. Seven hundred years before the prophet had predicted the Messiah's birth at Bethlehem (Mic 5:2). Christ the Lord. The Anointed Lord, for which the nation was so eagerly longing.
