Wesley's Notes for Joshua 1:6

1:6 Be strong and of a good courage - Joshua, though a person of great courage and resolution, whereof he had given sufficient proof, yet needs these exhortations, partly because his work was great, and difficult, and long, and in a great measure new; partly because he had a very mean opinion of himself, especially if compared with Moses; and remembering how perverse and ungovernable that people were, even under Moses, he might very well suspect the burden of ruling them would be too heavy for his shoulders.

Time or The-Clock-of-Jehovah GOD required Moses to rest. We also should be conscious of Time or The-Clock-of-GOD as it relate to our personal life because any minute of any hour GOD can require us to rest or be ready to assume leadership as Joshua was given the responsibility of leadership. Leadership of at least 1 me,I, myself.

I love the spirit of Joshua. He was determined to follow God from a young age. I like how the Bible describes him and Caleb of "having a different spirit". It is obvious by his actions of obedience that he was a man of great courage, as instructed. Faithful to the end as I'm sure his wife was and of strong character.

I love how Joshua did not exhalt himself above Moses' ways of leadership Joshua built upon Moses' leadership skills and used Moses prophetic words from the Lord to remind God's people of God's promises. Hence, the people honored Joshua and vowed to protect follow his commands the same way that they have obeyed the voice of Moses.
