Wesley's Notes for James 4:4

4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses - Who have broken your faith with God, your rightful spouse. Know ye not that the friendship or love of the world - The desire of the flesh, the desire of the eye, and the pride of life, or courting the favour of worldly men, is enmity against God? Whosoever desireth to be a friend of the world - Whosoever seeks either the happiness or favour of it, does thereby constitute himself an enemy of God; and can he expect to obtain anything of him?

People's Bible Notes for James 4:4

Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses. Adulterous spouses of Christ who commit fornication with the world. It is spiritual adultery that is meant. The friendship of the world is enmity with God. Since the prince of this world is opposed to Christ and the spirit of the world is also opposed, one cannot love the ways of the world and love God also. "Ye cannot serve God and mammon" (Mt 6:24).

You show your humility by your attitude; others will notice. But never never speak of it. That's what the Pharisee did as he stood beside the truly humble Jew, Lk.18:10

James 4:7 "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." IF WE EVER NEED TO LEARN TO RESIST THE DEVIL AS THE BODY OF CHRIST IT IS NOW!!! RESISTING THE DEVIL TAKES SUBMISSION TO GOD HIMSELF! TRYING TO RESIST THE DEVIL WITHOUT THE LORD'S HELP IS IMPOSSIBLE! SATAN AND HIS DEMONS HAS NO FEAR OF US BUT FEARS THE ONE WHO LIVES INSIDE US! James 2:19 "You believe that ther
