Wesley's Notes for Genesis 28:15

28:15 Behold I am with thee - Wherever we are, we are safe, if we have God's favourable presence with us. He knew not, but God foresaw what hardships he would meet with in his uncle's service, and therefore promiseth to preserve him in all places. God knows how to give his people graces and comforts accommodated to the events that shall be, as well as to those that are. He was now going as an exile into a place far distant, but God promiseth him to bring him again to this land. He seemed to be forsaken of all his friends, but God gives him this assurance, I will not leave thee.

Jacob didn't confess his name the first time, so he received a blessing intended for someone else, that blessing never came he spend much of his life striving and running away, until one night face to face with God he wrestle and asked for his blessing, then God ask him what is you name? but this time he did not lie he said I am Jacob then God truly bless him and changed his name to Israel.

Frankie; "I truly can't understand why Jacob is being Blessed by God after deceiving Isaac the way that he did..." "There is a generation that is pure in their own eyes but is not washed from their filthiness." While many use everything instead of Christ to establish their own righteousness, God is about to humble them and take everything away from them wherein they trust, who obey not the truth.

Frankie (cont.); God rules over the matters and times of this world and He directs the good and the evil according to His own will, to bring men to repentance and the knowledge of the truth. We were not made and born into the world to live for self without God. This world as it is right now is not God's final plan for man; but He waits for the completion of the times to finish our salvation.
