Discussion for Daniel 1

    Hi Debra, You asked 3 months ago about the word eunuchs. Well the simplest way I can explain it, is as what our Animals Shelters do to the Animals to stop reproducing by neutering. An eunuchs is a neutered male. The Kings usually do this to protect their collection of women wives and concubines etc . So the captive males were all neutered. Daniel too.

    This is the fasting period as Daniel and the 3 fasted, by not eating fats and drinking wine, after 10 days got wisdom, knowledge and understanding of vision and dreams from God. We should be able to have faith of receiving great things from God before the end of this period just as Daniel. I believe.

    In verse 3 - the word eunuchs-
    And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed , and of the princes;

    Also verse 11: Then said Daniel to Melzar whom the Prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hannaniah, Mi'shael, and Azari'ah.

    Can anyone please help me understand those verses. Thank you.

    At this point in TIME, Daniel and his friends are in a foreign country as slaves. The sin's of their own country Judah / Israel has received the promise /wrath of Jehovah / GOD, and through war (using heathens) GOD allowed these three men to be taken as slave into a foreign country. So we see GOD (when HE decides) shall release his wrath on a nation that will not repent, also HE protects a few.

    You have probably heard of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, but these were the heathen names, honoring false gods, that were given to them. Daniel 1:11

    Verse 12~Daniel and the 3 Hebrews risked angering the king, but they refused to be molded no matter what pressure they faced.
