Wesley's Notes for Acts 7:51

7:51 Ye stiff necked - Not bowing the neck to God's yoke; and uncircumcised in heart - So they showed themselves, ver. 54; #Act 7:54| and ears - As they showed, ver. 57. #Act 7:57| So far were they from receiving the word of God into their hearts, that they would not hear it even with their ears. Ye - And your fathers, always - As often as ever ye are called, resist the Holy Ghost - Testifying by the prophets of Jesus, and the whole truth. This is the sum of what he had shown at large.

People's Bible Notes for Acts 7:51

Ac 7:51 Ye stiffnecked. Stubborn, like the ox which refuses to bend its neck for the yoke. Stephen now makes his direct application. And uncircumcised. Aliens in heart from God. The uncircumcised were aliens from Israel. Stephen told them that spiritually they were "heathen". They, like their fathers, resist the Holy Ghost. The will of God.

Discussion for Acts 7

Joe Montgomery. Verse 45 tells us that the Son of God, Jesus was present as Israel walked through the land of Moab, leading Joshua into the promised land. Jesus is the Captain of the Lord of Hosts and was worshipped by Joshua, prior to crossing the Jordan River and going over to the Canaanite cities of Gilgal, Jericho etc.

Joe Montgomery, my Spanish King James reads “Josué,” not “Jesus.” Josue translated to English is Joshua. And that makes sense because this verse is referring to Joshua taking Israel into the Promised Land. Hope this helps.

Verse 45: "Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles …." - I do not understand what this is saying. Will someone please explain?
