In the book of the prophets - Of the twelve prophets, which the Jews always wrote together in one book. Have ye offered - The passage of Amos referred to, chap. v, 25, &c, #Amos 5:25| consists of two parts; of which the former confirms ver. 41, #Ac 7:41|,42 of the sin of the people; the latter the beginning of ver. 42, concerning their punishment. Have ye offered to me - They had offered many sacrifices; but God did not accept them as offered to him, because they sacrificed to idols also; and did not sacrifice to him with an upright heart. #Amos 5:25|.

People's Bible Notes for Acts 7:42

Ac 7:42 Have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices? This passage is quoted from Am 5:25-27. The emphasis is on "me". Did ye not offer them to false gods also? Ac 7:43 gives the reply.

Joe Montgomery. Verse 45 tells us that the Son of God, Jesus was present as Israel walked through the land of Moab, leading Joshua into the promised land. Jesus is the Captain of the Lord of Hosts and was worshipped by Joshua, prior to crossing the Jordan River and going over to the Canaanite cities of Gilgal, Jericho etc.

Joe Montgomery, my Spanish King James reads “Josué,” not “Jesus.” Josue translated to English is Joshua. And that makes sense because this verse is referring to Joshua taking Israel into the Promised Land. Hope this helps.
