Wesley's Notes for Acts 4:19

4:19 Whether it be just to obey you rather than God, judge ye - Was it not by the same spirit, that Socrates, when they were condemning him to death, for teaching the people, said, O ye Athenians, I embrace and love you; but I will obey God rather than you. And if you would spare my life on condition I should cease to teach my fellow citizens, I would die a thousand times rather than accept the proposal.

People's Bible Notes for Acts 4:19

Ac 4:19 Whether it be right in the sight of God. They appeal to the higher law. Their earthly government commanded them not to do what God had directed them to do. In a conflict of this kind there is only one course, that is, to obey God.

Discussion for Acts 4

  • Bonita R Kenney
I have asked myself how do I increase in love and the power. So I am not lacking or diminishing in God's word. God's power does not work in you, if you don't work the word to get the love of Christ, and the power is in his word to manifest the power to work by believing and walking in faith. I have faith in the works because of the word of God.

KJ version is only translation that uses the phrase Acts 4:30 By the Name of Jesus not through the Name of Jesus. This gives two different meanings to me. Am I missing something here or am I misunderstanding
