No, women should not be in a position to usurp the authority of a man.

Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their

  • Nolan on 1 Timothy 1 - 8 years ago
No, women are not to be pastors in the New Testament. Every time you find mention of a bishop ( 1 Timothy 3:1-9; Titus 1:7) it is referring to a male. Even when you read the postscript on some of the epistles it will list the bishop's name and it is always a male. God has set forth an order in the home and the church ( 1 Cor. 11:3). The only commandment for women to teach is found in Titus 2:3.
  • Neenee on 1 Timothy 1 - 8 years ago
Women can be pastors God used women all throughout the Bible. Example. Debra..do a study on her...
  • Mamie Fluker on 1 Timothy 1 - 8 years ago
No a woman can not be a pastor because a pastor is over a church. 1 Timothy 2;12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man,but to be in silence. In our church we can preach with the permission of man,but we have no women pastors in our church. The man is head of woman and God is the head of man.God bless you.

importance of trinity not to be overlooked- in this case God our Saviour means the Father who sent his Son Christ Jesus John 3:16 somewhere in scriptures, the gospels, Christ says, "I don't do things on my iniative, I do things I hear in heaven, not of myself, the Father's will not my will: I obey the Father who has given me complete authority to do so" for instance, in the Gethsamane garden Christ agonizes in prayer to the Father "that this tribulation cup pass from me", then submits to his Father's purpose "not my will but thy will be done", "even unto death" epistles of Hebrews and Romans the Father is the grand orderor of all things which Christ has full power to obediently implement Genesis 1:26 the Holy Ghost, too, a principal actor Genesis 1:2, Hebrews 9:14, Proverbs 9:2

love god and neighbor first greatest commandment Christ says somewhere in the gospel and elsewhere in the old testament: faith assured not disengenuous not supercilious heaven our hope see also Proverb 13:12
  • Mark on 1 Timothy 1:5 - 8 years ago
Doctrine is important however. I believe we are to contend for the faith even if it seems unloving. Examples include: Infant baptism and works salvation of any kind. Know the one who saved us, how he saved us, and love. Love confronts error even if it causes division. This is not trivial! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.

Gavin - Unfortunately the world is filled with evil brought on by mankind. We believers have always been surrounded by these since the earliest of times - just think about the life of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. All of us believers would love to live in a world that was free of evil that is our hope for eternity. However, until the Lord decides our time is come to be with Him, we must continue in this world doing the very best we can to bring glory and praise to Him.

  • Joni G on 1 Timothy 1 - 9 years ago
Brianna, yes that is an interesting scripture. It is important to recognize that the Bible we have today is complete. Especially the King James version. It gives you all you need to know about God 's love for you for all of us. Men filled with the Holy Spirit wrote what God wanted them to say. We cannot assign just any interpretation we want. Look at 2nd Peter 1:20-21. When the Bible was translated into English from Latin Hebrew and Greek, it was carefully and prayerfully translated by experts using original manuscripts. Paul was telling Timothy to be careful not to allow fables or other heresays to be considered authentic as the Word of God. Always good to question the source and reject it if is not valid as the Bible translators did when they rejected spurious books for inclusion in the Bible.
  • Brianna on 1 Timothy 1:4 - 9 years ago
This is an interesting scripture. I have been seeing more and more instances of Bible fables such as Adam having two wives, one named Lilith. Or , there are missing books of the bible. However, hear fables truly add no value to the bible at present. They really do just warrant further ,earning less research and add nothing to a person 's faith.

Amen Chauntana! What a disgrace! The Africaaners that were brought here against their will was sooooo wrong! I was so horrified growing up that I could not even take American history in high school. In college I avoided it again and took European history.I couldn 't bear to hear about slavery in the south. I remember when I was 3 calling a sweet lady Aunt Ida, who was black. She cleaned for my grandmother 's friend. The town I grew up in sold no alcohol nor had black Americans. Odd. I am thankful to God that He is no respecter of persons and accepts all who trust and obey Him.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on 1 Timothy 1 - 9 years ago
Hello Nothing but the Truth: I do not know if they will post this or not, because this is meat. If the people who created slavery were truly God fearing people and understood the scriptures they would never have abused their authority like they did over Black America. In our present day society the words of slavery, prejudice, and hatred for a nation of people that were brought here against their will still rings out. There are churches that preach this hatred. There are people who will die believing that a nation of people should not have any rights, equality, or justice. If they were truly filled with the Holy Ghost and truly know the beauty of God where is the room for such hatred? The fruit of the spirit, Ephesians 5: 9 For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth and Galatians 5: 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

According to Strong 's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, menstealers 405 refers to not only the actual act of trapping the individual but also the enslavement, for free labor and future breeding of other slaves, which would thereby increase the number of slaves without incurring any further out of pocket expense...Very devilish indeed!!
