Wesley's Notes for 1 Timothy 6:19

6:19 Treasuring up for themselves a good foundation - Of an abundant reward, by the free mercy of God. That they may lay hold on eternal life - This cannot be done by alms - deeds; yet they come up for a memorial before God, #Acts 10:4|. And the lack even of this may be the cause why God will withhold grace and salvation from us.

Discussion for 1 Timothy 6:19

  • Heaven and Hell are true .They are like the air we breathe. Our body perishes but soul never dies. In hell there is suffering but joy in heaven. It is important to give some time to our soul as we give time to our body. God has given self-will to do decide where to go. He never compels us. But He loves us. Many people have made effort to reach Him through good deeds or visiting Holy places. I have found peace joy in Jesus. We have a great hope we will meet Jesus when we die. He is coming soon to take up those who believe in him. It is worth Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
