The words Wrath and Quenching The Holy Spirit, is my focal point of the scripture text; because these two action words will lead me to sin. So,in learning this I will activate my Christian walk in Abstinence. Amen.

1 Thess. 5:5-7 - this is for any who may not 'understand' these verses. The children of 'light' and 'day' KNOW IN TRUTH the Word OF God (Jesus) and obey it. The 'drunken in the night' are those who refuse to know His Word of Truth; they ae in darkness concerning His Word.

First I believe we ought to know that God is God : Our Heavenly Father !! Unless we know Him we can not adequately Praise and Thank Him when we are facing a difficult time . I must know that my Father is Good , Loving , Kind , and Merciful , and most of all Grace !!! I do not thank God for the difficult time : I Praise God for the Victory and getting me in a higher place !!! In the world , ye shall have tribulation But be of Good cheer , I have overcome the world : We , God's children are in the world but we are not of the world !! Praise to God opens the door to Him !!

There is an appointment for the ungodly , which is the wrath of God : there is an appointment for the Godly ,those that are in Christ Jesus , salvation . God's people are not appointed to wrath . I obtain salvation through my Lord Jesus Christ !!!
  • Carol Karam on 1 Thessalonians 5 - 8 years ago
I think that forgiveness and salvation is there for the asking, HE welcomes us with open arms, we just have to ask and accept.
  • Lenora on 1 Thessalonians 5 - 8 years ago
I wish that this chapter was read to all the brenthen as asked in verse 27, but even more that the real saints of God would began to be doers and not just hearers alone. My biggest struggle has been with those who proclaim the name of Christ. Therefore making the pursue of Christ harder than it should be.
  • Charlie on 1 Thessalonians 5 - 8 years ago
One of my friends said that to help my depression and lift my spirit I need to make a list of things to be thankful for. I Thess 5:18 says it is God's will to be thankful for all things.

Heavenly Father, Thank You LORD JESUS for saving a wretched soul like me and renewing my spirit in truth and faith and love. Thank You Father for not appointing Your children in CHRIST to wrath as all perish in wrath. Bless all, Father, specially those who love Thee. In CHRIST I LIVE. Amen 1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

I think Paul wanted the Thessalonians to be blameless or ready at the time Jesus our Lord will come. He exhort them repeatedly that they abstain from evil and be sanctified since that is the will of God for all Christians. 5:22,23. He encourage them to be happy because there is hope of living with Jesus Christ when He comes. I am personally happy.

We cannot always be in our prayer time : I believe what God is saying here is that we are to always be in a prayerfull attitude at all times. No matter where or what we are doing to always be aware of the presence of God in our lives.

oh yes what am thinking about this is that, if we cease to pray will will be disconnected to God which if we do that, we are on our own. it is very important to pray continuously without ceasing. it is encouraging us persist in prayers.
  • Pansy Foster on 1 Thessalonians 5 - 8 years ago

'...Scripture seems to indicate ... salvation took place within the realm of your human spirit, which is distinct from the soul. Some take the position that man is dichotomous, or two parts - physical and metaphysical or material and immaterial. However, the Bible teaches that man is trichotomous, or three parts, comprised of spirit, soul and body. Hebrews 4:12

1thessalonians 4:11 teaches us study to be quite and mind our own business, as Christians we need this humble spirit in us that does not puff up and its not boastful and learn to be content with what we have and stop gossiping and bearing false witness against others by minding our business

When the Heavenly Father draws people to receive Jesus by their faith in him, they receive the inheritance promised in him. In 2 Corinthians 1:20 For all of his promises are yes and amen, for the glory of God through them. Jesus said pertaining to asking him in prayer, " Whatsoever you desire, when you pray, believe that you have received it and you will have it. " We ask in prayer and believe, and we wait patiently on the Lord, and he will give you the desire of our heart. Wait on Him and you will see it happen. Also remember this, Hebrew 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who come to him must believe that he is, and that he is the rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Our heavenly Father makes it clear that if we doubt or waver from faith He will not answer our prayer. He says make your yes be yes, and your no be no, anything else is from the evil one. Pray without ceasing for, the lost, the saints, Israel, leaders etc. Let the Praises of our Lord God be continually in our mouth.

In 1Thessalonions 5:16 tells us to pray without ceasing.Whatever you been asking God for don 't give up.Continue to pray without ceasing meaning never giving up on your prayer.God wants to prepare us for what we are asking for on His on timing.God is not set up on a time frame He does things in His on order,He tells us to be still and wait on Him or let patients have its perfect work so we may be complete not lacking in nothing. So on today food for a thought don 't give up on God or praying because your prayers will be answered on His time.
  • Deborah on 1 Thessalonians 5:6 - 9 years ago
I believe this means we are to always be alert and aware of our surroundings. Sober is a state of mind.....aware, alert, ready for the coming of the Lord.
  • Lilian on 1 Thessalonians 5 - 9 years ago
God loves us so much that he cant afford that we will missed our rapture. Jesus dont want to bless us only but to work for our salvation and our soul will be saved that we will be raptured into our Father 's mansion. God is faithful to his promises therefore we must seek the Kingdom of God first and love God with all our hearts and soul. We must believe and love Jesus that he is the Son of the Living God who lay down his life for us to protect and comfort us. Thanks be to Jesus for sheding his precious blood to us. We are now live because of Jesus love, mercy and grace to us. I love you Jesus forever.. Amen
