5:3 When they - The men of the world say.

5:4 Ye are not in darkness - Sleeping secure in sin.

5:6 Awake, and keep awake - Being awakened, let us have all our spiritual senses about us.

5:7 They usually sleep and are drunken in the night - These things do not love the light.

1Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day. They are of the light, of the day, because they have come to Christ for light, and are taught of him. Hence on this subject they are fully informed. We are not of the night, nor of darkness. Those are "of the night", who turn away from the light and refuse to accept it.
