Matthew 25 mentions goats. There is a story about the scapegoat in which Jesus is likened to it, by carrying away our sins.

A touching story. Reminder for us to lead by example and do righteousness and not do what our will seeks to do. Listen to the father for guidance. It's better to swallow thy pride than to do wickedness.

David got the opportunity to prove to King Saul that he was not seeking to harm him as rumoured and a chance to minister to him the ways of God. David's attitude caused King Saul to become repentant and confirm him as the future king. It seemed like a perfect opportunity to kill Saul but it was not God's time or his way. David knew in his heart that this was not God's will neither his command.

David had a chance to end the injustice that he faced, but he respected "the anointed of Jehovah" as verse 6 shows.

April; I like that! Well said! Also, in the context of how the Law reads, "eye for eye.." teaches us the fact that NOTHING is forgotten, overlooked or made light of by God. God made man in His own image, and what is done to that image is done to Him. In David's conscience toward God, he could never justify putting his hands on the LORD's Anointed, even when he was cruelly wronged without a cause.

In the bible it was stated An eye for an eye,a tooth for a tooth, but here in this story,David knew of this to be an oppurtunity to give back what Saul was dishing out,but he had a choice and he chose NOT to kill Saul,we ALL have choices to do onto others as we want done unto thy self, even if God delivered him into his hands, was this a test perhasps?and how many times have we been tested?God BlessU

How great would it be for people of the world today to learn from David - not to repay evil with evil. We are reminded in 1 Peter 3: 9: "Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing"

david showed bravery and cunning stepping out of that cave. the words he chose made himself a hero before saul's army. to have him killed then would have brought saul much shame. there was nothing to stop saul from having his army kill david and his men. it would have been an easy kill because they had no way to escape. saul finally realized that david would be king.

"Many mourn for their sins, who do not truly repent of them; weep bitterly for them, yet continue in love and in league with them." When confronted with sins I've already repented, I CONSCIOUSLY stop, acknowledge God's presence

The mercy David attributed to Saul is as a result of God's infinite mercy upon us,God is always showing us mercy even when we do not deserve it....God's ways are totally different from man,but if God is with you, you'd know the right thing to do.

God's ways are so deferent from man's ways, David spare Soul's life that was God
Some times before doing something seem good to us, we need to hear from God, his council
Always leads to victory and success. To God be the Glory

Saul was envious of David because the Lord chooses him

The LORD gave David the kingdom, because of Saul sins Saul had to come to grips with it.

This verse set an example when we are anointed by the power of God it will menifest his power. When we walk in spiritual adultery we will face our own trouble because we are sinning in the eyes of the Almighty God.
