As a born again believer in our Lord I see this picture as child abuse. I can expect this in the carnal world but on this site that prints out Gods word this is so offensive. Would you offer this picture of this helpless infant in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ?
  • Sarah on 1 Peter 5 - 5 years ago
Wow, what a powerful word. God is speaking to me. Praise God.

  • A disciple on 1 Peter 5 - 5 years ago
"Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:" A sober person is serious and thoughtful. When you are sober, you are not drunk. With respect to our manner of life as a Christian disciple of Jesus temperate or sparing in the use of anything that would benumb our conscience and our abilities of reason, sanity, or self-control. It means being led by the Spirit of God, rational, not given to excessive indulgence in drink or any other activity, which its purpose is to cause us to throw off virtue and a good conscience toward God. Vigilant means you don't take a nap on the job, or relax your sense of urgency and commitment and watchfulness.

    D. Painter - that was really very inspired to you of the Lord. To 'dig' out the corroborating verses like this - is a beautiful thing.
  • Fredrick phiri on 1 Peter 5 - 6 years ago
This vers is a very dependable anchor to the victory. In real life situation there if your mind is not sober nothing inspired you can do. Therefore, for one to work effectively in the vine yard must be sober .
  • Irene123 on 1 Peter 5 - 6 years ago
Eunice. T. (if you ever see this) - you are so very right about our life in Christ being 'smooth'; Yes, we will have trials to test us, but God never puts on us more than we can bear, and knowing that makes our walk with Him - a smooth one. Our trials are nothing compared to the Heaven that awaits us. " ... Jesus endured the cross, despising the shame, for the JOY that was set before Him."
  • Wayne on 1 Peter 5 - 6 years ago
Sean, 1 Cor.5:10 tells us we would have to leave this planet to not associate with the sinners of this world. Pray to the Lord for grace, each day, to live in that situation and be a witness for the Lord, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. GB

    V. 13 - " ... and so doth Marcus my son." We know Peter was married ( Matt. 8:14; Mk.1:30) so I just wonder if this was his issue or a 'spiritual' son? We know Paul was not married, nor was he a hypocrite as some on here with deviate minds affirm, and that Timothy was his 'spiritual son. God did NOT use hypocrites to write His word.

  • Irene123 on 1 Peter 5 - 7 years ago
To Michael, 5 days ago - I think maybe Peter was a bigger failure than you - before the day of Pentecost in Acts ch. 2 when he gave the1st message of Jesus' new church - failure when he DENIED Jesus 3 times; you haven't denied Him. Just go to Acts ch. 2 - read vs.37-38.
  • Zagga Fenton on 1 Peter 5 - 7 years ago
My commend is on verse '8', there's a hurt and angry feeling I have on thinking these individuals, fashion themselves in the opposition of God, delight themselves in displeasing God. Their glory is to rob you and I from receiving God's favors. They gave up their fear of God, and now trying to rob us of our fear of God. They choses to be a parasites rather than being a servants and sons of God.
  • Michael on 1 Peter 5 - 7 years ago
I believe every word and thank Jesus for Apostle Paul great unexplained blessings he has done for me, though now I am one who has been fulfilling the lust of the flesh and I hate it, every time I do the same thing over and over and over I hate it and deserve not Gods love because things God has revealed to me are for others to know, instead I continue to fulfill the lust of the flesh and people see me back and forth people like myself angers God because I'm suppose to be an example, a follower of Jesus so that others may see his good works I'm sorry Lord Jesus you know me I'm the biggest failure that ever exist
  • Irene123 on 1 Peter 5 - 7 years ago
Did no one notice v. 13? "The church that is at Babylon .........saluteth you;........." Peter wrote this; he was the pastor of the Mesopotamian church at Babylon. He wouldn't have sent this salutation had he not been it's pastor. Nor does this name apply to Rome, simply because the Apostles followed after Jesus and would have used 'disparaging' remarks. This was the actual Babylon.
  • Iene123 on 1 Peter 5 - 7 years ago
    v. 1 - ".....and a witness of the sufferings of Christ ....."; this reminds me of Lk. 22:61 - and the Lord turned and looked upon Peter. Oh, the sorrow, guilt, and silent recrimination Peter must have felt!! That one phrase brings tears to my eyes. Because, the Lord didn't condemn him, not even silently. His look was of pure love, because He knew beforehand Peter would do this, and He knew why.
  • Andrew on 1 Peter 5 - 7 years ago
I was led to this scripture while thinking about " a crown that fadeth not away" we know the crown of thorns that Jesus recieved in our place..thus also symbolic of His royalty and the fact that he is KING of KINGS!! Jesus said no man taketh my life, but I lay it down..what an awesome God..he chose a crown of thorns..but offers us a crown of life! Roman soldiers did not kill Jesus..he gave life!
  • Sean on 1 Peter 5 - 7 years ago

  • Sherri Moore on 1 Peter 5 - 7 years ago
This was edifying to my soul because I have been there and the devil was trying to keep me under his spell but I prayed and now I am free from that enemy. I don't give Satan the chance to re-enter into my spirit.
