"There are many scriptures that says that this earth ( the literal earth ) will abide FOR EVER" - name one, because if that is true, you should have "many" to choose from.
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply on 1 Peter 5 - 3 years ago
Alex, the Holy Ghost has GRACED (his works) you an understanding that most can't discern because they look through physical eyes instead of spiritual eyes. ALL IS OF GOD. In God's appointed time each man will come to the knowledge of the Son of God ( Ephesians 4:13).

Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Ecclesiastes 9:1 For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, AND THEIR WORKS, are in the hand of God;.......

Psalm 65:4 Blessed is the man whom thou chooseth, and causeth to approach unto thee; we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even thy holy temple.

Psalm 92:4-6 For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through THY WORK: I will triumph in THE WORKS OF THY HANDS.

(vs 5) O Lord, how great are THY WORKS! and thy thoughts are very deep.

(vs 6) A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.

Alex on Isaiah 65 ,The new heaven and the new earth which is the H.G. our new Innerman ,That heavenly Jerusalem ,mount ZION WHICH IS SPIRIT . You are come unto mount Zion the city of the living God that Heavenly Jerusalem and a host of Angels, this is all in the spritual realm in our hearts and minds etc. As Jesus said the Kingdom of God is gonna be WITHIN you via that good seed the Living WORDS of God. And that good seed is gonna form Christ in us which is the H.G our NEW INNEMAN which answers to the new Heaven and the new earth as Isaiah said as the new heaven and the new earth shall remain so shall thy seed and name remain OUR SEED AND NAME IS THE WORD OF GOD THE SEED OF THE SOWER, the contents of the book, The new covenant . Thats y God said i will give them a new heart and a new spirit which is our new innerman the H.G. Not a literal new earth or new heaven ,its in the Spritual realm as the H.G is in the spirtual realm. Behold i make all things new means everybody is gonna get a new heart and a new spirit which is the H.G. that new Jerusalem, thats y its called the city of the LIVING GOD AS GOD IS SPIRIT . Ya gotta realize there is absolutely nothin wrong with this beautiful earth ,Its only our Old ADAMIC NATURE which is in rank with satan that needs to be destroyed with his baptism of fire etc and thats what the new heaven and the new earth is a new heart and a new spirit ( Christ in you ) the kingdom. And that is y the NEW BIRTH IS SO IMPORTANT we are gonna birth that new innerman via that good seed the Living Word . If i have told you earthy things and you believe not how shall you believe if i tell you of heavenly things ( That new earth and new heaven) being born from above etc. A new innerman our fruit unto God via that good seed etc. There are many scriptures that says that this earth ( the literal earth ) will abide FOR EVER, And I will destroy them that destroy the Earth . Outa the hearts of man proceeds all manner of evil, thats what needs destroyin

Stick very close to the Bible ask God in Jesus name to give you wisdom and understanding to find the knowledge of the truth in the Bible it's Gods will for all to get this so Gods on your side . Jesus said few find it , so perseverance is essential. Jesus said strive to enter in at the straight gate , first you must find it .

I'll help you some it's the Cross it's the power of God , you must go through the death of Christ and enter into a new life of the risen Christ .

Paul talks about this in Corinthians and Galatians .

It's by faith in the word of God . Not mans interpretations. Gods more than able to open your understanding in the scriptures that can make you wise unto salvation, 2 Timothy ch 2 .im Just trying to point you to the Bible it's self , praying for you too !

    2 Chronicles 7

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will HEAL THEIR LAND.

15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. (USA)

16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

    17 And as for thee, IF THOU wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments;

18 Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

    19 But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

20 Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

21 And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?

22 And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of (SIN) Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped Them, and served Them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon THEM.

We could fix this if we would repent as a nation and turn it back to that moment when people refused to salute the National Anthem or the Flag. We've been ripping everything we held sacred, to pieces ever since.

1962, the Bible and saying the Allegiance to the flag got kicked out of public schools. It snowballed from there.

As long as we have corrupt people in power (& I speak of those who have not the fear & love of God in their hearts & lives), we will have unjust laws & practises applied. We have been in days for a very long time now, when the guilty are considered of greater worth than the innocent. We have judges, in some countries, scared of losing their lives if they give a harsh sentence to any who can retaliate against them personally; they have bodyguards around them continually. We have politicians & other govt. officials who care little about true justice with their careers being more important. We shouldn't wonder as to the moral & judicial degradation in our societies - it must happen when the godless are in power. "As the government, so are the people - as the people, so is the government": both go hand in hand. We know that righteous rule will only come with the Lord Jesus Christ on His Throne on Earth, when the hearts & minds of people will be revealed & judged with true Justice. His mercies still prevail.
  • Gail on 1 Peter 5 - 3 years ago
Why is God permitting the evil and corrupt to take over our nation? I'm very confused on how the corrupt people get away with everything they do and never see justice here on earth.

In re-reading Daniel 10, I was unsure who this was that Daniel saw and spoke with. At the moment, I believe it was an angel.

First, Daniel stood in the angel's presence when given strength. Second, none of the references for this angel are capitalized, such as "one", except "I", which is a matter of English. Third, this being was helped by Michael, therefore, he is not Michael. Christ would not need Michael's help. Fourth, this being is sent by someone else. Fifth, other angels have had the appearance of man.

True, that others have stood in the presence of Christ, but this posture is reinforced by the fact that the references to this being are not capitalized. The KJV translators would have capitalized the references.

In regards to wealthy ministers, preachers, churches, etc., my heart tells me that as long as there is hungar/starvation, malnutrition, unclean water, no shelter, bad education, or anything causing sickness and death inflicted upon anyone on this earth, they shouldn't have anything extra to buy such lavish and unnecessary things. It doesn't sound like something our Creator would be okay with especially after telling us that the love of money is the root of all evil. I don't believe He likes money at all. He gives us all that we needed to begin with. We are suppose to help our brothers and sisters who have need when we are blessed with more.

We know that the clergy is behind the crucifixion our Lord Jesus. At present the history is repeating. But ye are chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, and a peculiar people : that ye should shew for the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Which in the past were not a people, but are now people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 9:10.We the people of Jesus are compelled by his love to preach everybody about Him and his love. The only mediator is him. We can directly speek to Him with his holy spirit abides with us. Church is the communion of his belivers. We worship him by keeping His commadmends in our daily life. We are the temple of our Lord Jesus. Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1Corinthians 7:19.

In 1 Corinthians chapter 9 (verses 1-12) the Apostle Paul talks about his Rights as an Apostle of Christ. You have a good point about wealth in the Church. However, the Gospel of Christ is not to be peddled for economic profit. A man (and woman) reaps what they sow.

But God is full of Grace and in His Graciousness will strengthen us through suffering by enduring the trials which lie ahead and He alone will in that strengthening, perfect us into maturity, courage and peace with confidence thus transforming us into His likeness to which we are all called.

Herman, there is no specific reference, whether biblical or secular, that Peter visited Rome. The only mention of Babylon in 1 Pet 5:13, which is sometimes interpreted as alluding to Rome, is somewhat weak.

However, the question you ask, is often asked by those who attempt to disprove the papal line from Peter (i.e. since Peter wasn't in Rome, how could the papacy be established & proceed from there?). If that is your thought as well, I quickly refer to Mt 16:18, which RCs will used to support Jesus direct instruction to Peter that he would be the foundation that His Church would be built upon.

However, as you may know, that Jesus was using the meaning of Peter's name (Cephas/Petros = a rock), that he would in time be a solid, unshakeable witness for Jesus. Yet, Jesus said, that upon This Rock, he would build His Church. Was it on Peter? No. Jesus was speaking about Peter's great testimony, "And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." Mt 16:16. Upon this Truth that Christ is indeed the Son of God (along with the Truths that follow such a declaration) & His Church will be distinct from any other so-called church, just based on this fact. There are 'churches' that deny the Deity of Christ & so their further teachings develop into false theology/christology, but the true Church will be based on this Rock of Truth & not on the papal line.

    Herman,

Historical accounts show that Peter died in Rome sometime around 66-67 A.D. Peter wrote his first letter around 63 A.D. right before his arrest in Rome. Peter wrote from Rome, but he used the cryptic name Babylon in his letter - I Peter 5:13. Peter wrote his second letter right before 67 A.D. as he wrote it right before his death. Nero, the Roman Emperor, died around 68 A.D. Nero had Peter put to death, so obviously Peter had to die before 68 A.D.

Tradition tells us that Nero took Peter as the leader of the believers, spread wax on him, and was going to put him up on a pole because that was Nero's little hobby. He would round up the Christian leaders, wax them down, put them on a pole, and then light them on fire to light his garden at night.

And so Nero came to Peter and said since you're the leader, I'll tell you what I'm going to do. Since your Savior was crucified, I'm going to crucify you instead. And it's recorded that Peter said I am not worthy to die like my Savior. If you're going to crucify me, crucify me upside down. So tradition says that Peter was crucified upside down in Nero's garden. That's about all the evidence I think we have. Peter was probably arrested while traveling through Rome on a missionary journey. There are groups today that claim that Peter was the first bishop of Rome. That claim is false.
  • Mishael - In Reply on 1 Peter 5:13 - 3 years ago
Some Bibles have a commentary at the beginning of each Book. 1 Peter 5:14 shows him to be in Roman provinces. 1 Peter 5:12-14,

2 Peter 3:18 is the end of recorded exhortations by Peter. Most famous being: his preaching on the day of the Lord.

Peter was crucified upside down on a cross. Sounds like something Romans of that time, would do.

Chris as more access to more historical accounts; dates.

And again, it is now written, Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore: for it IS holy unto you: every one that defiles it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever does ANY work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done: but in the seventh IS the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth ANY work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

Yes, I think in this generation we're living in, submitting, or showing respect to elders, or people that are older is no longer part of the make-up of children, young adults and even adults. It is a sad sight-where the morality of people has decayed. The older that do not lead by example, who are corrupt themselves, should not get any respect, and the younger should not follow submit to them.

i like that Peter tells how to: if we cast out cares, we admit that we are weak and need god's help, we find it. We are kept safe under his wings of protection. we are reminded who our enemy is and we can resist him. i exhort us believers to continue in the grace of God and to help each other.

Humble ourselves before the mighty hand of God, Oh how we should be brought so low, knowing the Eternal Son of God humbled Himself in obedience to the Fathers will in taking our nature, willingly He made Himself of no reputation and was obedient even to the death of the cross. For the Joy that was set before Him He endured. Now in Glory, our Mediator, interceding for us feeble souls that we May we cast our cares on Him, the One whom loved us from Eternity past and knows every hair upon our head, our thought, intention and heart. Fear not, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. Every Blessing.
