Why was Jesus an adult when he was baptized. I believe he was in his thirties!! John and Jesus were both adults! He fulfilled the law to be baptized!! It's a commandment! Mary wasn't told to baptize him as a baby...we're suppose to follow Jesus and do what he did..he is our example! Jesus followed the laws of Moses till he died! After the day of Pentecost, when the apostles received the holy ghost, they started to function in the church Jesus organized! See Acts 2 verse 1...see verse 14...

There are two references to the figure 8! The eight souls saved by water (Noah's family) and then the second reference is saying in verse 21 "the like figure (8) where unto baptism does now save us"! Figure is a numerical symbol!!

Oh my, oh my. If you believe we are born pure and blameless, you are definitely reading a different scripture, because it is most certainly not the Holy Bible. When Paul writes, for we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, I must have missed the part about it only being adults over the age of 8. When looking at the notion of Baptism=regeneration one must take into account the entirety of scripture, starting in Genesis. Christianity is a continuation and fulfillment of the Jewish faith, therefore, a complete knowledge of scripture is required, not just looking at the New Testament. Pay particular attention to the covenants that God establishes throughout, the theme of passover and exodus, and finally the theme of Messiah. You can even just reference the passages of scripture that refer to water and see how they relate to baptism. The like figure in vs 20 is referring to the fact that Noah and his family were brought through the waters of the flood and out the other side. How do you correlate 8 souls being saved through the waters to 8 years old is now an age were you are held accountable before God? We as human beings have already proven that we are unable to do a single thing to be justified in front of the Father. This is why he sent the son. Scripture is clear on that. Just look at the figures throughout the scriptures that screw up royally...every single one of them. We are united to Christ through baptism in which his righteousness is sufficient to save us( Romans 6). In our Baptism this is something that God says about us; its an adoption ceremony. Does God require perfection from us? Yes! Christ says this on the Sermon on the Mount..."Be ye perfect as your heavenly father is perfect." Where do we get that perfection? Being united to Christ, not through belief, because one can never obtain perfect belief or perfect repentance(Galatians). This is why Christ came in the manner in which he did; through a birth canal. Christ represents us in all areas of our life, from childhood through adulthood. In regards to Paul referring to a baptism of spirit. You need to look up the Greek text on this as well as the baptism that is referred to in Romans 6. In both cases, the Greek text is translated as a physical aspect. A person is physically dunked under water, not just spiritually. There is nothing metaphorical about it, it is something that has definitively happened to you with the spirit present with the water. Unlike, asking Jesus in one's heart, something that is completely subjective...did I do it right the first time? I better do it again to make sure. Well I was feeling pretty good when I did it but now I'm feeling low, let me ask Christ into my heart again to make sure.

I feel compelled to clarify that the baptism Peter speaks of is a baptism of spirit, an emersion in the spirit of Christ. The water baptism that we all receive in front of the church is symbolic of our death to self and our resurrection in Christ. The heart of the man is the matter and it most certainly is necessary that the Holy Spirit be embraced in the heart. The act of being baptized in water in itself does not insure salvation it is a public profession of an inner change or �baptism� that has already taken place.
First,we must realize that scripture co-relates the BELIEVING wife on the one hand and an UNBELIEVING or FALLEN husband living as couples. Without doubt then,it's a ready answer to a Believing wife married to an unbeliever and do need an answer. As a believing wife,you must first,as a precursor,preach to your unbelieving hubby and if he seem not listening and willing to get converted, the option of your continued God fearing life style supersedes.Not urgently constituted but had been in you and had been in display. A wife should first have been won attitude and character-wise to show herself an Ambassador of Christ even to her very matrimony.
First of all, there is no age of accountability being mentioned in this passage. Paul is very clear in his Epistle to the Romans, the foundational doctrine of the early church, that we are all born with the sin of Adam. He does not say that we are born pure and then end up evil after we turn 8 years old. Since God hates sin, hence Jesus Christ's victory on the cross,and we are all born as sinful beings, we are all in need of salvation - even a new born baby. 1st Peter 3:21 makes clear that we are saved through baptism, not by accepting Christ into my heart, where I can domesticate Him. I love this scripture. It revives me. Showing that being humble can bring you great rewards. You dont have to fight all battles but the Heavenly Father is there for you. I love it. Even towards the end when Jesus goes to the spirutual world, this shows a lot. Glory be to God. The Lord is for real & great. Wish everyone could read this.
I love this because it tells us that the dead are preached to in prison in the spirit world...telling us the wicked, in the days of Noah were being preached to!! Shows there is a second chance to those that don't know better!
