Comment on verse 19: The spirits in prison are the ones who perished in the flood of Noah, as peter says in verse 20. Why would he go and preach to them unless they had a chance to believe and be saved and to get out of prison. It shows God is going to give everybody a chance to hear and believe and get saved, even the ones who died before they had a few chance to hear about Him in this life.

The spirits in prison are the fallen angels sons of God that came in to the daughters of men, and giants were born to them. See Genesis 6:2-4. They are being held in chains of darkness 2 Peter 2:4 , because they kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation Jude v.6 These fallen angels are being held in prison because they crossed the line, and tried to corrupt the human bloodline to prevent the Messiah from coming. I 'm thinking if one can take off a piece of "nice " jewelry and, without regret of loss, give it to another, then that piece of nice jewelry has been worn well. Even though doing without jewelry and nice clothes is not a necessity in walking spiritually, check your heart to make sure it isn 't a hindrance.

Eddie, some people put on gold, fine clothes to be seen of others. God wants us to have meek and quiet spirits first.Nice clothes are okay and jewelry but should come second to a humble, quiet spirit before the Lord. We have hope in God and should radiate that hope. Clothing, jewelry, braiding of hair is secondary. I also think of verse Psalm 29:2. Worship God in holy array. Try to look your nicest when you worship the Lord. It is always good to dress appropriately, always keeping in mind God looks on the heart and your submissiveness and honor of Him.

I have more questions than comments. I need help in understanding, does God strictly forbid wearing gold or is it you can wear it you just can 't adorn it, please help me to understand.

This chapter like the others, is reminding us to put God first in everything we do. We must love each other sincerely.Know our priorities are to God and doing his will.

we need to be constantly studding Gods word too few Christians know Gods word or God ...we are not sharing the good news as we were commanded to do and not spending time in reading praying and waiting on the Holy Spirit who is our helper. I feel that if a person has a lot of guile coming out of their mouth . hey has evil feeling in their heart towards themselves and other people . Bitterness and unforgiving feeling because of thing that have happen to them and they has not turned it over to GOD and layed it down at his feet . So that they can have peace and rest .
