I struggle to read the KJV version. I have a 1st class honours degree (proves this means nothing in today's society) and I find the wording difficult. I often lost the story because of the focus needed on the wording. I tried an easy version of KJV but I'm afraid there would be missing pieces. I want to read the KJV version and maybe with God's grace I will understand it if I perservere.

Do not sin because the grace of GOD is abundant. Fear GOD and keep His commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. Trust in the Lord with all of thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all of thy ways acknoelege Him and He shall diect thy path

The flesh will begin a separation from the spirit, the word is sanctification ,a renewing of the spirit. Sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. This is a mystery, only through obedience can we find favor . Peter praises God the Father, for this lively hope, given to us through faith in the Resurrection. The resurrection is the theme throughout both now and forever. This redemption (getting back) He compares to being more valuable than anything in this world that is of any physical value! This revelation is what it means to be BORN AGAIN! The resurrection is the distance between your hand and face, between heaven and earth. This is the kingdom of Heaven! Christ came back and died for us!
  • Jack Gutknecht on 1 Peter 1 - 4 years ago
It is a living hope because it is grounded on the living Word of God 1 Peter 1:23 and was made possible by the living Son of God who arose from the dead. A living hope is one that has life in it and therefore can give life to us. Because it has life, it grows and becomes greater and more beautiful as time goes on. Time destroys most hopes they fade and then die. But the passing of time only makes a Christian s hope that much more glorious.

This is a beautiful book, if you keep in mind that Jesus told Peter to feed my sheep. Wow, to go from despair to right standing! This admonishes us to realize the gift we have been given, and not to waste it. It's an inheritance. Praise God, for his words are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh- Proverbs 4

Life in this fallen world has painful moments for every living creature. But pain can be redemptive. It can help others, It can show others the love and grace of GOD. It can develop perseverance within us as we battle the old serpent, the devil, the source of suffering. The problem of pain in life is alleviated when we don't allow it to frustrate us or separate us from the GOD'S love. Our LORD knows every wound, every attack, every tear HIS love is the antidote for the toxins of suffering. IN CHRIST JESUS our LORD and SAVIOR.

"As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, BE YE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY." Note carefully, that NOTHING is said about our natural condition or how uncapable we are; like His command to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect.
  • A disciple on 1 Peter 1 - 6 years ago
Amen Servant! In this, Peter's First General Epistle, the Spirit is especially teaching on how we are to conduct ourselves as Christians in the present evil world, and about the temptations and trials which are sent for our proving and growth and development, in order to be good and faithful witnesses of God's holy Glad Tidings of Christ; and thereby making us fit for His Presence without fear.
  • A disciple on 1 Peter 1 - 6 years ago
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to HIS ABUNDANT MERCY begat us again into living hope, by the again-rising of Jesus Christ from death," All that Jesus is, all that He said and did, all His prayers for us, did the Father answer in Jesus' rising again from dead. The words and deeds shall be for ever and all that for now opposes shall be conquered and removed.
  • Son of David on 1 Peter 1 - 6 years ago
Peter teaches that Faith isn't something to have but something thst is evolved thru purification of fiery temptation, but the knowledge of the truth that Jesus, the Christ (because Christ wasn't a name butan office)came in the flesh and taught an advanced class in Religion, revealing the existence of God, and certified his thesis by returning in Transfiguration as a testament, so sealing our fate
  • Doren on 1 Peter 1 - 6 years ago
    This is a nice chapter
  • William on 1 Peter 1 - 6 years ago
The only way to tell God thank you or to be assured that I have truly been forgiven and saved by Christ is to be holy in ALL in all manner of conduct
  • Insight777 on 1 Peter 1 - 6 years ago
V18, Peter explains that animals bought with silver and gold then slaughtered to remove "sin" is nothing more than vanity held onto by tradition. It is meaningless and does not remove sin.
Jesus taught that his gospel, His Words = His Blood, remove sin as they teach water baptism for removal of sin not blood sacrifice. His gospel is like an innocent lamb, pure. One can not BUY forgiveness of sin.

  • Wayne on 1 Peter 1 - 6 years ago
Obie, HOW TRUE! JOHN 3:16. The Holy Father gave His Son, a gift to us, for our salvation. A gift is free. And for all of us to receive and enjoy forever. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world, through Him, might be saved. Thank you Heavenly Father for saving us through your most Holy Son, Jesus Christ.
