1:11 Searching what time - What particular period. And what manner of time - By what marks to be distinguished. The glories that were to follow - His sufferings; namely, the glory of his resurrection, ascension, exaltation, and the effusion of his Spirit; the glory of the last judgment, and of his eternal kingdom; and also the glories of his grace in the hearts and lives of Christians.

1Pe 1:11 Searching what . . . the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify. They spoke of Christ and salvation, and then diligently inquired what the "Spirit of Christ" in them did signify by these words. When it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ. They spoke of the sufferings of Christ but could not understand these predictions any better than the Jews of Christ's time. See Lu 24:25,26.

In this, Peter's First General Epistle, the Spirit is especially teaching on how we are to conduct ourselves as Christians in the present evil world, and about the temptations and trials which are sent for our proving and growth and development, in order to be good and faithful witnesses of God's holy Glad Tidings of Christ; and thereby making us fit for His Presence without fear.

    Peter lays out that we must obey thr truth, and hear the Prophets which foretold the coming of God's Christ and his resurrection, which was the fulfillment of our faith that God is within the body and not of the body. We are to endure the trial of faith which invariably occurs in our time on earth for how we do, how we conduct ourselves here dictates how we spend eternity, and our clothing there
