    Vanessa,

no one who abides in him keeps on sinning. Does that mean that we are no longer sinners?
  • Vanessa on 1 John 3 - 5 years ago
no one who abides in him keeps on sinning,no one who keeps sinning has either seen him or known him. I f we truly except Christ as our Lord and he has purified us, Blessed us with the holy spirit then how can we walk with a sinful heart? We have so many preaching differently, saved by grace repent, according to this no so?

Verse 12~This shows that Jehovah God read Cain's heart and did not accept his sacrifice because his heart was wicked. Our worship must be given with a clean heart.

  • Brianna vs. 10 - 11 on 1 John 3 - 5 years ago
Many people have their own ideas of what is acceptable to God, but he has made it very clear what is acceptable to him. If you are not following God's commands, then you are not with God. Plain and simple. However, to suit their own interest, people have twisted the scriptures to make their own wicked behavior permissible in their own eyes. Truly Sad.

  • Sammy on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
This is the only law that is left for us to fulfil. BELIEVE IN THE NAME OF MY SON(JESUS). That single sacrifice on the Cross is enough, in it we were justified freely.
  • Fred scanlan on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that WHOSOEVER believes should not PERISH but has everlasting LIFE! There is indeed an ACT of RECEIVING, BELIEVING, TRUSTING, his word. In the beginning was the WORD. GOD created LIFE with HIS WORD.

Romans 10:9,- That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ( Titus 3:5) Not by works of rightousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.

Dear Vicki; I have to address part of what you wrote. You said, "..That may RESULT in changed behavior but it s not changed behavior that saves. See Ephesians 2:8-9." But you have to complete the sentence! "..For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." If we don't show a good result and proof of Grace, we perish!

Dear Vicki; There will be MANY who are left standing OUTSIDE and UNABLE TO ENTER; because THEY DID NOT DO WHAT JESUS HAS COMMANDED US! It is a false teaching that will damn the souls of those who believe it; that says, because salvation is a gift we somehow have nothing to do! EVERYTHING that Jesus taught is that we must DO whatever He says if we hope at all to be saved! Mt. 5:16; 7:13-27; 21:28-31
  • Vicki on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
Son of David, would you by chance be Catholic? I know they don t believe we can know we re saved until we die and that is false and directly contradicts Scripture. See 1 John 5:13. Salvation is a gift, we do not earn it by how we live. We receive it as a gift by faith in Christ. That may RESULT in changed behavior but it s not changed behavior that saves. See Ephesians 2:8-9.

My beloved, i was having a torrid time in my work place, i dont blame my boss but my heart started condemning my self or the situation is against me. I have decided i will not complain this year. This scripture has given me some light on what God thinks about me and not what my heart thinks about me. In Christ Navin

"For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things." 1 John 3:20 The Lord wants us to walk in love, with a good conscience and a pure heart and faith without hypocrisy. Sin and temptation to sin especially, is deceitful. In the innermost parts of our soul we are confronted with a dreadful crisis every time we are tempted to sin. Do what's right according to God's holy and wise commandment or, pretend like we don't hear, harden the heart, burn the conscience, and dare to do what your flesh is screaming for. You can turn a deaf ear and give Jesus the back and deceive yourself but you will never deceive God! The wicked shall fall by his own wickedness but the integrity of the upright shall preserve him. This whole chapter is about DOING and WALKING, and not just empty talking about being a Christian! When we are of the Truth we will hear Jesus' Voice and that means, as in, being watchful and attentive to obey His Voice and DO whatever He says! If anyone thinks that faith and talk alone without any obligation to DO is enough for us actually BEING saved he better look again!

Our mistakes and faults can constantly condemn us but if we are truly repentant and seek God s forgiveness we can be confident in his forgiveness.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
    V. 9, whosoever is born of God sinneth not, for His seed remaineth in him and he cannot sin because he is born of God.
  • Q.Williams on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
It is what it is! Our Hearts are wicked, but through HIS Blood, Yeshua washes us whiter than SNOW! We must Repent first! He's waiting!! We have a choice to be content in HIM!! Satisfied, Comfortable in HIM!
  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
Son of David: One does not take salvation. It is received. That is why we have ceased from our labors, because we cannot attain to righteousness by works of the flesh, but have to submit to HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS by the SPIRIT OF TRUTH! The workers in the vineyard have ceased from their own labors, and now work for GOD.
  • Son of David on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
To Dis. I would be comforted to know Salvation was such a small matter that it was there for the taking. Would that I could supplant the Father and his righteous judgement to cease my labor on earth. But the vineyard requires laborers who do not cease from their labor day by day. Have you not understood this. Do you not understand that Jesus, the Christ said That Father works and I work.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
And when Christ, the only begotten Son of God, shall have down hell death and the grave, He shall, in front of all beings in Heaven, turn to His Father, and submit Himself, and His authority, to the Heavenly Father.
  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
Son of David: God hath from the beginning chosen you to SALVATION through sanctification of the Spirit and BELIEF OF THE TRUTH: 2Thess2:13 To give knowledge of SALVATION unto his people by the REMISSION OF THEIR SINS. Luke1:77 Jesus has saved us by TAKING AWAY ALL OF OUR SIN. Where their is REMISSION, their is no more offering for sin! When you study scripture, look FOR it! TRUST IN HIS SALVATION!
  • Son of David on 1 John 3 - 6 years ago
I love Jesus, the Christ more than most. I have absorbed the whole bible as to put things in context and I am sure that noone can proclaim salvation before the judgement. That is my complaint around every collective idea, especially the "born again". Are they more likely to understand the truth because of one verse 3:16? Please understand that Jesus, the Christ did not absolve sins but per se
