  • Don on 1 John 3:9 - 9 years ago
I John 3:9 means that a person who is born of God cannot sin as he has the new nature and is a new creation II Cor. 5:17 According to I Cor. 15:45-49 tells us that their are two "men " in us--the natural Adamic and the spiritual Lord from heaven and the one that cannot sin is the second from heaven. Paul gives this same information in Romans 7 of the two natures abiding in all born again Christians and the flesh is the one that sins and the spiritual sins not as 1 John 3:9 plainly teaches.
  • Motdaugrnds on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
Eaglesrock 's Even though we have accepted God 's Holy Spirit as a guide in our lives, we CAN sin by following the dictates of our bodies instead of the gidance of the Holy Spirit. This Holy Spirit is given to us for our edification and, with knowledge of God 's love and Jesus ' sacrifice, we CAN make choices that keep us sin free. However, we can also make choices that bring us to our knees asking forgiveness. It is a constant struggle to stay alive in this world and still walk by faith.
  • Delshaya on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
I love 1John 3. I believe if we love, we 're doing what our Father commanded. Love is so powerful.
  • Rodney Cole on 1 John 3:2 - 9 years ago
We cannot ask for more...to have a future in the image and likeness of God...
  • Edwin Jacobs on 1 John 3:16 - 9 years ago
It 's so awesome that we don 't deserve it but Christ love us so much that He gave His begotten Son so whoso ever believeth shall not perish but shal have everlasting life.
  • Eaglesrock on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
vs 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin for his seed remaineth in him and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. This scared me before. until I realize that witch is born God is referring to my spirit. My spirit does not sin, its my flesh. My spirit does not commit sin. I thought sometimes that I could not be a christian because I was still sinning sometimes.
  • Kaybaba on 1 John 3:9 - 9 years ago
hello...what we are talking about here 1john3vs9 must be properly understood.we must know that the real us is the man inside.THE ONE OUTSIDE THAT WE CAN SEE IS NOT US.The man inside cannot sin or make practice of sin once he has accepted Jesus as his lord and personal savior. That is the man God speaks to,he speaks to our spirit man,the real us. Though some of us are not sensitive enough to hear him,cos we have allowed the outward man to dominate us.The inward man and HIS house the outward man are always at war with each other.Devil takes advantage of this and cause those that have not allowed the word of God to richly dwell in them to do things that they are not and make them believe that is who they are.REMEMBER THAT SCRIPTURES DID NOT SAY THAT OUR PHYSICAL BODIES IS BORN OF GOD.
  • Mikey on 1 John 3:2 - 9 years ago
It is Assurance of Gods Grace upon Me,that even though I struggle with Sin as a Christian He has provided a Way,what a Glorious Loving God We Serve.
  • Brianna on 1 John 3:22 - 9 years ago
I definitely agree with Shanna. How can you act wickedly, and expect a blessing from Jehovah God? IT MAKES NO SENSE! Can you rob and steal, and expect a citizen of the year award? NO! I think this is a good self examining scripture to review when you think God is not answering your prayers. What are you doing to receive an answer?
  • D. Hall on 1 John 3:8 - 9 years ago
This verse 1John 3 8 is a very interesting scripture. "He that committeth sin is of the devil. " This scripture when rightly divided has to mean, "He that habitually practices sin is of the devil. The same reasoning could be used for 1John 3 9 "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin. " When rightly divided this scripture has to mean, "Whosoever is born of God doth not habitually practice sin . We all know that there is no person but "Jesus Christ " who has not, nor does not sin. Yet those who are living a godly life daily, do not "habitually practice sin " because they are born of God. Notice the great apostle Paul said, "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before " Philippians 3 13 .
  • Baedee on 1 John 3:3 - 9 years ago
purification come from heart and the bible says let this mine be in you which was in Christ Jesus ' , another scripture says the kingdom of God is within you and so what ever your heart condemn is bad.
  • Paul Brouwer on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
We cannot generate sin from an evil heart since we have e new heart planted. The seed of God which is pure love is growing in us and changing us from the inside of which we see the fruits on the outside. However, we can still give in to temptation which is all in the fallen creation. So, we do not generate it but we are still under attack. Our Father is allowing this for forming of character by the works of His Spirit Who is confronting us with our weaknesses and pointing the right way to go.
  • Roy on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
I think this is an awesome chapter it shows that we still can have the presence of God with us even though we sin, and that it is not a licence we are given to go on sinning, and that those factors 'll Te and conditions we inherited.
  • M on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
Yes, the bible is true God is great this is amazing to read and ask the holy spirit to give you wisdom and knowledge.
  • Eva luna on 1 John 3:8 - 9 years ago
It is a very powerful scripture. It really works. Use it during warfare. The reason the son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
  • John on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
Hallelujah. What a amazing, wonderful, merciful God we have. Truly Jesus Lives with us. We are no longer in the dark but with the Light
  • Atama. A on 1 John 3:8 - 9 years ago
The devil has lost the grace for repentance because of his unrepentant nature. Therefore who ever sinneth habitually and is unrepentant is of the Devil. The Bible translation by Weymouth explains better. This is Actually the basic difference between humans and the devil. We have the grace and power to confess And repent of our sins, a privilege the devil has lost from the beginning. Therefore 1 John 3 8 is a War fare prayer verse that is directed at the devil and his unrepentant agents and people who might be against your life and your progress.
  • Linda on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
    I love this
  • Emmanuel Yaw on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
Jesus is happy. He is king forever. He will never suffer or die again. He He prays for us, and gives us the Holy Spirit.
  • Evo on 1 John 3:3 - 9 years ago
I think, a Christian can purify himself because in the book of Ephesians 1, the Bible declares that we have the fullness of God, and again the Bible says greater is He Jesus that dwellth in me than He that dwellth on de world, with this oness with Christ i believe one can actually adify and purify himself.
  • Olabode on 1 John 3:16 - 9 years ago
Jesus love me soo much that was why he laid down his life for me. So, he is expecting me also to lay down my life for my brothers and sisters in Christ.
  • Sue on 1 John 3:16 - 9 years ago
we barely can comprehend this kind of love for us. to lay down ones life for a child ,yes .for a true brother or sister could I really do that?only if I know where im going .I have true love and is their life more needful?on the other hand maby to die for one so they wont wake in hell
  • MockingBird on 1 John 3:16 - 9 years ago
I know by experience and observation that Jesus laid down His life for me that I may have eternal life. Therefore as I have experienced this and know then I ought to lay down my life for my brothers sisters that are in the Lord that are in need of help and forgiveness if I have been done ought by them. Praise God.
  • Ariyo Julius on 1 John 3:8 - 9 years ago
Devil refer to here is the lucifer who has fall from the begining, his work are those things he does to make sure that nobody enter the kingdom of God because he had tested it and doesn 't have the grace to be there again so he uses all means to make sure we are not there but rebuke devil and he shall run away from you. he just roar like a lion he is not the lion but our God is the Lion of the tribe of Juda
  • Robert on 1 John 3:3 - 10 years ago
I m a believer, but how can a man purify himself.Jesus said no man is good ,not even one.I believe the lords work on the cross is the only way to be pure.I don t think man can do it on his own.
  • Alvis Sheppard on 1 John 3 - 10 years ago
