  • Behold the Lamb of God on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
What sin? Men do not take away sin. It takes blood. Jesus takes away sin. The Saved had their sins taken away and are free from the law of sin and death. Sin is a transgression of law. SO by which law will you call sin? No man is justified by law in the sight of God, un fact it made all guilty who were under it needing Jesus. What makes us think anyone will be justified if we measure them by it? Again, which law? Galatians 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. ---No higher law. Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Sin? You've got to be kidding me if you're calling sin on the saved. They are "IN HIM". 1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins and in him is no sin. Thank you Jesus.

The comments that i have read seem to all speak of the passages of scripture about Love, which is GREAT! but lets not neglect the verses that deal with Sin. We use the excuse that were not perfect to much. But these scriptures don't say whether your perfect or not to not sin. They stress the point not too and to purify ourselves from sin. Which is a process but not an excuse for sinning willfully. Vs.6 should cause us to strive more to be like Jesus so we can say we know Him. Vs.9 speaks volumes to me and should everyone in Christ. Let our Love for Christ and others cause US to walk upright till His return. Let's talk about all that the chapter discusses to not omit any of the Word. God Bless

The word LOVE is better spelt and pronounced when it is backed up with action just like our LORD savior JESUS CHRIST did on the cross of Calvary for every mankind. Let every child of God try to emulate Him and show LOVE in like manner to our fellow human beings.

This was not written by John to tell the church to raise their standards of behavior. He was using the examples from the old testement law to make the point that sin was a barrier to participating in God's Kingdom. He ultimately directs the church to change the MOTIVE behind their behaviour. To DO Love, not just talk about Love. So when the voices inside all of us that question and doubt our place in HIM...that would tell us we aren't WORTHY of such a relationship, We can prove to ourselves the type of person we are in Christ by the Love in our hearts that drive us to such deeds if in fact we are responding to that Love that God has placed there . We can restore that confidence faith that those condemning voices might try to destroy... God does NOT condemn you, Who are we to condemn ourselves above his wisdom. Above His Sacrifice. And stop the powerful work that he is doing inside us, around us and through us. . . now go look at what Paul says about his own sinful state in Romans, end of chpt 7 and beginning of chpt 8...there is therefore now no condemnation to those that are IN CHRIST. Not because we ACT perfectly!

I also believe that God is saying here that we ought to lay our lives down : take up His cross and follow Jesus : Greater works than these shall ye do : meaning , more of the same : because I go to my Father and yours : His commandments are not greveious :We can do what God says for us to do because He left Holy Spirit within us to help us !!! Praise God !!!

Amen...We have to obey God's words and his commandments for God is our God who saves us and gave his life for us so that we may have life in abundance. This is our only God we served thru Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord Jesus for your blood that shed for us. Your precious blood are more than enough to forgive and washed our sins. By your blood we have life..Praised you Lord forever for you are worthy to be praised. Amen

John madden? Behold the Lamb of God. See what He makes you in this next verse. Only He does that! Not us. And when He does you are FREE FROM SIN. Note who "made" us that and thank HIM. MADE! The "end" is written which means non negotiable for those MADE this. This information was written to them. FAITH is never doubt. BEHOLD the LAMB as John instructed, He was sent to bear witness to the true light and what did he say the Lamb does? See your end if reborn: ... Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Hello Ellen, Loved your comment , explain more how to continues in his Light and to abide in his Love. Thanks Brother.
  • Ellen on 1 John 3:3 - 8 years ago
For Robert and whosoever...Beloved brother, how can we do anything that the Word of God commands? Some followers of Christ asked this question in John 6:28. What must we do to do the works of God? in the next verse, the Lord answers, 'This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him Whom He hath sent. ' It 's by faith, brother. In Acts 15:8-9, talking about the Jews ' and the Gentiles ' part in the Lord 's salvation, it says in verse 8 that God does this by His Spirit, and in verse 9, purifying their hearts by faith. It 's not by our power or might, because as you 've said, there 's no good in us, it is by His Spirit. How we must purify ourselves is by prayer, because the faith that God gives us causes us to pray. That 's our part. The work of the Cross is indeed a finished work and it 's only by His Blood, but as we believe, we pray and we read the Word, because this is faith in action. It 's constant repentance, turning to Him in faith, calling on Him to help us to pray and read His Word. We are justified by faith, but we are continuously being sanctified by abiding in His Word and prayer, because this is how we walk with Him. We see this in John 13 where Peter tells the Lord that He must not wash his feet, and the Lord says, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. We must experience this ongoing work of sanctification every day. We do this by continuing in His Word and prayer.

vs 22 and whatsoever we asj we recieve because we keep His commandments . The condition for answered prayer is keeping of God 's commandment , so our continual in sin leads us to despair , Christ listens to those who listen to Him , ye He forgives and forgets but as we come to know Him , he expects us to be sinless , we cant hate our brother and expect Christ to answer our prayer , we are not righteous at all , but we have been given imputed righteousness because of Christ that is why we are called to a sinless life not that it will save us but because we are saved . Central to our relationship with Christ is obedience to His statutes . Ezekiel 20:12 God sign between Him and His people is His fourth commandment the sabbath , if you are His keep His statutes .

I was reading scripture in first john and he says,My little children I write this to you, that you sin not. He says it right there that we as gods children do not sin. Then he says if any man does sin we have an advocate with the father the lord Jesus christ. He is talking about unbelievers. And I will also say that confession of sins is not for believers.we confess our sins when we come to Christ and he washes of ALL unrighteousness and then he imputes his rightiosness. There was gnostics in that church and john was correcting that false doctrine to them.we are dead to the law of sin and of death.we have been freed from sin and we are dead to the law.He who commits sin is of the devil The unbeliever who rejects Christ. He that does righteousness is righteous. He who receives that form of doctrine that was delivered to us by the apostles.us believers. We are not sinners,we were sinners. We are THE RIGHTIOUSNESS OF GOD.
  • James on 1 John 3:9 - 8 years ago
There seems, to be a congregation of Job 's friends here, God does allow the unjust to prosper, the wicked do increase, and we do sin. The just do get chastised and we do suffer tribulations as the church. However, the Blood Covers, and God judges through righteousness as He determines, it is the final judgement that counts, as Paul said He is without sin, yet did he not send Steven off to glory?

BLESSING OTHERS SHOULD NOT JUST BE IN WORDS... My son 's prayer was answered last night as I dozed off to sleep on the couch. Power had just been turned off in our area. My son had asked for a bike early this year and I promised that I would only do that by December as I had a loan that needed to be paid off by then. Propped on my couch, I dozed off and was asleep. Suddenly, a voice woke me from my sleep and said, "bless your son. " I woke up, checked where my son was sleeping and he wasn 't there: went to his bedroom only to find that he was fast asleep. Early this morning I was relishing the idea of what sort of blessing I would give to my boy - perhaps just lay a hand on him and say a few words... Well I was wrong. when I enquired from his cousins, I was told that my son diarised December as the month he was to receive the bike from you and that he is always talking about it. There I had it! He sees me put monies in the offering basket, pay for bills and other things and clearly, he couldn 't stop but wonder if there shouldn 't be surplus enough to get him a bike! I haven 't yet bought it, but my spirit has agreed that I need to do it and pronto! Recently, the pastor at a fellowship I attend has been asking my son to hold the offering basket and pray for the offering - I don 't know if it is by divine appointment, but that is going to cost me a bike! King James Version of 1 John 3:17. But whoso hath this world 's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue but in deed and in truth.

I BELIEVE 1 JOHN 3:15 ALLUTES TO THE SCRIPTURE THAT SAYS WHOSOEVER LOOKETH UPON A WOMAN TO LUST AFTER HER HATH COMMITTED ADULTERY WITH HER IN HIS HEART. HE DIDN 'T ACTUALLY LAY HOLD OF HER PHYSICALLY, BUT WAS CHARGED AS IF HE DID ! BECAUSE ANYTIME SOMETHING IA IN YOUR HEART IF IT STAYS THERE LONG ENOUGH AS SOON AS OPPORTUNITY PRESENTS ITSELF.... YOU WILL CARRY IT OUT !

abiding is the key word ,walking in the lite.as he is in the lite ,if we have a continual abideing in him which is one of the characteristics of born again believers,we wont make sin a practice ,but we will practice righteousness instead..

This chapter tells us how much God loves us by given his son to die for us and the reason why Christ manifested . He that committeth sin is of the devil for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.may be the reason for our struggles with sin is because we haven 't fully let Christ in? May if we give Jesus his fully deserved place in our lives then he can destroy the works of sin in us.24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

This chapter is teaching us that once you have accepted Christ you have been delivered from yourself and your ways so everything you say and do is now living directly for GOD your ways is his ways and he said don 't let know one deceive you of your walk with HIM
