1Jo 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God. But all born of God must love God's children. The proof that we have this love is that we love God, and keep his commandments. We so love God as to obey his commandments, one of which is to love our neighbor as ourselves (Le 19:18 Mt 19:19 22:39 Mr 12:31 Ro 13:9 Ga 5:14 Jas 2:8).

The indwelling power of God who is the holyspirit enables us to overcome the evil one. The spirit of God makes us to be conscious of sin.

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not, but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself and that wicked one touched him not.

1 John 5:7 God is a Spirit, the Word is Spirit and the Holy Spirit is Spirit. The Word which is Spirit came forth from Spirit to be made flesh and dwell among us though he were rich he became poor for our sake to take our sins upon him and give his life for us to redeem and reconcile us back to Spirit. Now the Lord is that Spirit, now what is the Lords name, who art thou Lord I am "Jesus" one Lord

(14-16) We know from other places in the Gospels where Jesus said that whatever we desire when we pray, believe that we receive and we shall have them. But this part, I think, has to do specifically with the business of souls; and in the same area as having charge of the keys of the kingdom, to bind or loose in Jesus' name; and to pronounce forgiveness and remission, or that the sin is retained.
  • A disciple
"..By water and blood.. and it is the Spirit that bears witness.." There can be no cleansing from filth without the water; and there must be blood to make atonement; and the Spirit confirms either good or bad according to truth. Truth witnesses the appearance of the Son of God in the flesh as complete with respect to the ruin of man by sin, by the slaughter on Golgotha; and God's mercy glorified.
