I have always desired to attain this perfect love but at times it seems almost insurmountable.I do know the difference between carnal love and divine love .When I talk to others about attaining this, most think that is impossible to achieve.

I Corinth. 13 is one of the chapters of the Bible which I use as God's measuring stick of my level of holy and righteous living. Thank you Lord for your holy scriptures which provides guidance to us as we journey through this earth to your Kingdom. Amen

    V. 5. (Scripture is referring to the feminine side of charity. The Bible written in Greek gives words that refer the feminine and masculine side of many things. I only understand it in part, I do not know the Greek language but I know someone that does read the Bible written in Greek. I have read some of his teachings.)
  • Debra Foster on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago

  • Sug on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
With ALL of the good that you do - it is as filthy rags if you do not have love. All the good that you do and have done is in vain because it was done while looking for praise and reward from man. It wasn't from the heart. The heart seeks no reward. God sees and knows our heart. Much blessings
  • Michele Wise on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
I got my youngest daughters name from this chapter, we named her Charity Grace, Charity means love and Grace means gift, she has a disability called Rett syndrome, it took away her ability to both walk and talk, but God gave her an tremendous ability to love, unconditionally, so this verse fits her perfectly

  • Lakeshia on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
Love is the most important thing to the Lord . God is love . Gods love covers a multitude of sins . You can live a life as a child of God but if you have an arch against your brother and you don't make it right. It is not pleasing to God and you will not be blessed for it. Until you make it right.
  • Chocolate Williams on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
It describes the fruits of the Holy Spirit, faith and hope, but the greatest is love. God showed us unconditional love in John 3:16. With the fruits of the Holy Spirit, we can also show charity to others. Thank you, for this wonderful Bible Study Program! may God richly bless you all!
  • Ethel on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
This chapter plainly tells us that love is the greatest gift of all because it represents the heart of God. 1st John 4:7 says that "God is love everyone and everyone that loves is born of God." Thus, according to 1John 4:20, "If a man say, I love God, and hate his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?"
  • Judy on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
Read this quite frequently. Though I believe in the gifts of the Spirit this seems to keep me planted.
  • Willa Johnson on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
I would pray that I would do all things in Christ
    Who gives love (charity) freely.
  • Lilian on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
God reminds us to Love one another as He have loves us. We have to abide Faith, Hope and Charity but Charity is the most and greatest powerful words that we have to do. Charity is the act of Giving money, food or other kinds of help to those people who are in need. Its just Jesus reminded us to share our blessings to the poor. Without sharing and thanksgiving we will not recieve a blessing. Amen
  • Jean on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
I have read this many times throughout my 70 years and find it relates to us today as we try to make correct choices FOR THE RIGHT REASONS. I think INTENT is paramount in what we do. We can't see all now, but we will someday. Until then, whatever we do, do it with love.
  • Ethnnos on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
If one reviews Chapter 12, Chapter 13 complements Scripture's message. The Church is based upon agape love which unites us together to fulfill the Lord's Will. In Paul's life, Jesus came first and His Spirit guided every action and letter found in the Holy Scriptures.
  • Cecilia Mae on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
I heard something guite different when read in context. I thought it said that the special gifts i.e. prophecy, healing, knowledge would be given up as a child gives up childish things. There will be no need of them for only love will remain.
  • Millicent on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
1 Corinthians 13 is a very powerful and direct book. It highlights the importance of having love and not just having gifts. Gifts will fade away, but love will stand firm.
  • Anne Marie on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
Charity is all heart and nothing more, performed simply for the act of giving to others.

  • Mary Ann Dion on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
Faith without good works is empty. In other words, charity is caring about and helping others. Not alms for the poor but making a sacrifice with time and talent.
  • Eleonora van Wijchgel on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
This text gives the core of, the basics for christian human life. It is so beautiful it brings tears to the eyes. Even after reading it many times it is so powerful. As humans we are imperfect, but trying to better ourselves is certainly inspired by this text. Gods grace will help and guide us.
  • Rev. Stephen Doang Nyoat on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
Love is a true essence of God, but by men is misused. If any Christian study this chapter with insightful heart he or she can be a true believer and save many. In the bible says about love it is debt to pay to one another ( Rom. 13:8)
  • Maria cristina thomson on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
Charity surpasses any other positive quality we may be proud of. During our human lifetime, we may not clearly see or understand, our reasoning unsuitable. Charity will enable us to clearly see when we reach a superior stance, that is Heaven.
