I 1st read this verse in NKJV Bible where love is used not charity. Reading the KJV I found it very confusing. I researched further to find that the word came from agape which means more of unconditional love. I think the two words together would make a better translation. When reading how it says charity it makes me think of Jesus preaching in Mathew 7:22-23 how works won't get you into heaven.

Besides all the great meaning in the scripture, it is so beautifully spoken in the king james version. I just don't see how anyone can be vain enough to think they can improve upon it

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good, and what does the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God, Micah 6:8.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: fear God, and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man, Eccl. 12:13. If ye love me, keep my commandments, Jn.14:15.

I remembered Mic., Jn by heart, cont.

Love is easily understood on a very surface, conceptual level, but I think it is important not just to see compassion as a thing to implement, but rather to rediscover it as the intrinsic aspect of humanity that throughout our lives we have a tendency to build walls around in the interest of self preservation. It is important to work on removing our walls so our childlike love can shine through.

Charity is the greatest of all compared to your hope and faith. God have commanded us to do Coz even if you have faith and hope but without charity we will not be blessed. God filled our cups to overflow so that we can be a blessing and be light to others Thanks to the blood of Jesus. Lets keep praising Jesus and worship him alone for he is our Jehova our Provider our Peace and righteousness AMN

Love , Gives : God is love and He gives : The sun gives light : There is so much in the world that gives : The giving of love is the Greatest : So whosoever is in your present world , Give that Love : Love covers a multitude of sins : It does not expose them through me or us or shouldn't any way.

Without using my faith to love everyone including my enemies, It profits me nothing. Faith works by love which comes from the love of God. If I don't love my enemies, meaning co workers I don't like, my bosses, evil family members, evil church members, ex spouse, ex boyfriend girlfriends, rude customers, rude clients, someone that you will NEVER forgive etc, My prayers will be unanswered. Jesus said to forgive and treat them as if the offense never happened. Easier said than done, but by faith in his grace, and love, it's possible. How do I know these things? Because I've experienced then all. God forgave me of my sins, so why can't I do the same for others? That will get you sent straight to Hell, That bitterness, and in forgiveness. Faith in God's love produces righteousness, peace, joy in the holy ghost. Pray in the spirit with tounges so the holy spirit can strengthen you, and Give you a unfeigned love for God, and people. You can do All things through Christ If you allow him too. God bless, I love you, and keep your heart right before God, and talk to him daily not with your lips, but your heart and conscious, and you will achieve some fascinating results in life. To God be all the glory!!!!

The commentary for vs. 12 is wrong, through a glass darkly means like when your looking through glass and its dark on the other side you only see yourself, selfish, but when you get closer, face to face, you can actually see what's inside the building of the glass your looking through.. you get closer to Jesus and start to see or care for others, farther from Jesus you care more about self..

  • Josh B. on 1 Corinthians 13 - 7 years ago
I love that verse I am still learning about being a child of God and making things right for my family and myself. It has not been easy but very humbling. My family is everything to me and with the guidence of God myself and my family will be whole. And I will be good enough for the kingdom. I haven't been honest and very loving in times of need. I pray for my family and beg for forgiveness.
