  • Andrea Barrett on 1 Corinthians 12:12 - 10 years ago
I love this particular verse but it is talking about unity it lets us know every body is important eye can say it have no need for the hand because if there is no hands what will wipe the tears of joy
  • Victor on 1 Corinthians 12:13 - 10 years ago
in Christ where u come from schooled eat sleep etc do not matter what matters is that we all are born and baptized into one body by the same spirit And so we harp on what unites than what separates us so that as one body we can fight together to fulfill the goal set before us
  • E.S. Pmabi on 1 Corinthians 12 - 10 years ago
Love for the Lord and all and humility are the basis on which the Holly Spirit operates we must of nessecity note that these gifts are intended to profit the body Church as such are not for personal gains
  • Jeannie on 1 Corinthians 12:9 - 10 years ago
Jesus said that all power is giving to us u must have love hope faith for healing your healing is the spirit ralm
  • Pastor chukwuemeka on 1 Corinthians 12:31 - 10 years ago
But covet earnestly the best gift; This means the gift that can make you to be more profitable in the body of Christ.Example, prophesy. When a prophecy goes forth to a congregation, many people are simultaneously affected or edified more than when other gifts are manifested.
  • Rguy on 1 Corinthians 12 - 10 years ago
Marilyn- the ability to interpret is also a spiritual gift (verse 10) which is received through prayer ( 1 Cor 14:13). So the person speaking in tongues does not automatically know what it means. Tony diversities of gifts means there are different types of gifts. Zan, a person who does not believe that Jesus is Lord does not have the Spirit of God (verse 1). Unless you are born again you will not see the kingdom of heaven ( John 3:18).
  • Neeve on 1 Corinthians 12:1 - 10 years ago
The King James Bible is true every word that God speaks is true and I am an Born Again believer and you dont have to ever ask me what do I think because He meaning God is my everything I love Him and glad He has choosen me before the founding of the world
  • Henry adrah on 1 Corinthians 12 - 10 years ago
it is important for a believer to have one of these gifts because the same spirit which worked in Jesus and we are of one body.
  • Thea on 1 Corinthians 12:1 - 10 years ago
It is very important as believers in the body of Christ, that we recognized our gifts, while getting the word of God, to be
lead by the Holy Spirit to be used by the spirit to bring healing and deliverance to the lost, Salvation that people might find Christ the hope of Glory, we need to walk in they Gift that God has placed in us
  • Vickie on 1 Corinthians 12 - 10 years ago
The verse is saying Chirst is one and we the people of God are the body of Chirst (the church itself). The human body itself is one body but have many members such as (arms, legs, ears, nose, eyes, etc.) The members of the body is what make up the body itself. The body can't be an eye, or ear, or nose, if it was, then there would be on other parts of the body. We need every member of the body so the body can function. One member is greater than the other because all make up the body. Christ has many members but the members only belong and make up the church which is Christ. And i am not talking about religion.
  • Zan Hardesty on 1 Corinthians 12 - 10 years ago
If God is real than his spirit, his christ within, is in all humans. Jews, Gentiles, Muslims, slaves, black white red yellow, advanced, Stone Age.... any all humans are members of the body. a benevolent god would not select only a few chosenS group, that you have to, by chance, be born into. so all humans have Spirit n we seek our true nature n purpose buy whatever spiritual means. most religions even that through time, all say just do the next right thing and get out of self. I'm not a Christian though I was raised hard shell Southern Baptist, as one counselor told me, you've been poisoned religiously. oh well, still find lots of useful material in New Testament. R there any Bible scholars out there, did i interpret correctly? ent
  • Tendy on 1 Corinthians 12:13 - 10 years ago
I need help on this verse as I dont understand it.
  • Earl W Fisher on 1 Corinthians 12:9 - 11 years ago
I am completely stumped by this very apparent and purposefully placed plural tense of the Gift of Healing, no other place and with no other Gifts of the Spirit is this used. I teach a class, am 62 years old and have pastored for years, here is some new thing that has me, to be honest; stymied! Can any one share light on it. Please don't come to me with a bunch of different "applications" of the same gift of healing, been there; that is not what I am looking for. Thank you.
  • R. D. Mattock on 1 Corinthians 12 - 11 years ago
Gifts of the Holy Spirit are the weapons of our warfare. They are mighty in the pulling down of strong holds. No army goes to battle without weapons. The church has sight away from these gifts, some say they have passed away. Try telling someone who has been healed by the gift of healing. Lets put on the whole armor of God; praying with all prayer and supplication, praying in the Spirit-tongues. Oh, maybe he said a bad word.
  • Mas on 1 Corinthians 12 - 11 years ago
    @Ross,
I believe the honour of the members is proportional to the way we treat such members.
Its pretty clear, all it takes is reading the text with simplicity of heart, and everything comes plausible.
    I just hope this helps.
    God bless you.
  • Ross on 1 Corinthians 12:23 - 11 years ago
Which ones are the less honourable parts of the body, and which ones are the honourable ones?
  • Dandy maxwell on 1 Corinthians 12 - 11 years ago
I think 1 Corinthian 12 is indicative of humans who serve others as one body of Christ. The gifts are blessings from our father, his son, Jesus and the holy spirit.
  • Geofred N.A on 1 Corinthians 12 - 11 years ago
These gifts are for strengthening the body of Christ and not for personal gain. May I say that they don't belong to anyone but God alone. They are simply tools in effecting the work of the ministry and the minister will give an account to God on how he/she managed them. Some of these gifts may not be needed at a particular moment in time in a service. God only allow the gift to flow when there is a need. Ministers should be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit when a gift is needed.
    Thank you.
  • Michael Weisser on 1 Corinthians 12 - 11 years ago
Gifts is italicized to show it was added. The gifts are apostle, prophet, pastor, evangelist, teacher, gift ministries. The others are manifestations of the spirit which any born again believer has the potential to operate, one or all.
  • Lady on 1 Corinthians 12 - 11 years ago
Whatever your gift is that is what you should operate. Can the arms tell the feet I want to do your part of work?
  • Charlene on 1 Corinthians 12 - 11 years ago
I wanna suggest to double check the written verses, because there is no pastor mention on it, for your information. As far that I know it is apostle, prophet, pastor, evangelist, teacher and others.
  • Sonny English on 1 Corinthians 12 - 11 years ago
I love verse 26 about the gifts of healings, helps, government. People do not truly understand that God and the Holy Ghost grant us these gifts. We must keep this in mind, in order to resist the enemy.
  • General DD on 1 Corinthians 12:7 - 11 years ago
It is for show that every believer will experience the revealing or working of the Holy Ghost in his or her life but do not take this as something to make a profit out of it, rather see it as an opportunity to serve the body of Christ, in all humility.
  • Jimmymcmillan on 1 Corinthians 12 - 11 years ago
God loves all within the body the same with the same intenticity no matter which birth level you are manifested.
  • Ken on 1 Corinthians 12:8 - 12 years ago
The word of wisdom and knowledge is in operation by the Holy Spirit both in the new and old testaments 1Kings3:27,28 with king Soloman and with Peter in acts 5:3 (Ananias) what I don't understand is the gift with you all the time and the Holy Spirit activates at His will or does He come when on or in you when glory to God or encouragement is needed to someone
  • Sharon on 1 Corinthians 12:9 - 12 years ago
I am reading that we are all a part of the church of Him who came to save us from sin, and to some are granted gifts to heal, gifts to do other things. I would like to read what others percieve. My friend said only the deciples were able to do these things.
  • George on 1 Corinthians 12 - 12 years ago
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

--there should be no schism or contention in the church, for all members (apostles, prophets, teachers, miracles, gifts of healings, helps, governments, etc) are essential to advance the cause of Christ. If any of these members are weak, the church is weak and vice versa.
  • Susan Dalton on 1 Corinthians 12:6 - 12 years ago
    Merry Christmas!
"And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all." ( I Corinthians 12:6)

There are some boats called "Lakers," and others called "Salties." The "Lakers" which are to big to fit through locks can only ply the waters of the lakes. They have a function, many are massive freighters carrying thousands of pounds of tonnage; but because of their size they are unable to reach the ocean.

The "Salties" are the boats that sail the oceans. Many of these may also sail the Great Lakes because they are also small enough to fit through the locks.

Most ships are either "liners" are "chartered" (tramps).

The liners have a specific route with specific ports. They go from one destination to the next regularly. Whether an ocean liner or an air liner, they carry many people or goods from one point to another. (ex. Washington to New York; New York to Chicago)

Chartered boats (or planes) do not have set schedules or destinations. They can be chartered to go wherever someone needs or wants to go. Someone may charter a plane to take them into remote jungle areas. Someone may charter a boat to take them somewhere at the exact time they want to go.

God has diversities of operations. Some may be freighters locked to the lakes. Others may be "Salties" sailing the oceans. Still others may sail both ocean and lakes.

God has "liners" and He has "tramps."

There are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
  • Gloria on 1 Corinthians 12:7 - 12 years ago
The outward working of the spirit is to edify or exalt your spirit. It working through you is ultimately for your good or benefit. Refreshed, uplifted, inspired, fuel, energy, outlook better,...
