When a single verse, Paul telling us not to divide into opposing groups following different leaders. "A group of people forming a distinct unit within a larger group by virtue of certain refinements or distinctions of belief or practice" Gets so many different interpretations, being filtered through our own beliefs and prejudices, how is this even possible.

"Estimates that there are currently 47,000 denominations." all reading the same bible. I try to keep it simple for my own sanity. As Paul said, "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." that is not up for debate in the true church ( assembly) For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

    Maranatha!

  • LUKE 113-17 BEING PREGNANT WITH LIFE on 1 Corinthians 1 - 3 years ago
When I was a teenager, I went to a Catholic church with a friend. I wasn't greeted; I wasn't told to dress a certain way. It was in Latin; I didn't hear anything I could respond to or understand. People were kneeling, standing, kneeling, almost robotic. Then we all left. There was nothing memorable about the whole experience. My friend said I'd have to take classes and I said, "no thanks!" I had seen enough.

Years later I was born again and with zeal, went into street evangelizing right away. I had to tell everyone "about a Man, who knew all about my life." Like the woman at the well.

I remember, from the sidewalks, seeing the Catholics drive by their Church and raise their beers and laughing, as they drove by.

Some called out the priest's names.

I was really out there doing the work of an evangelist. Jesus was with me, helping me to slow down an unbeliever long enough to tell them "of a Man who loves them and can tell them the words of their life.

The Catholics were in cars, driving and drinking, and unreachable, by me and others who were out working the Harvest with the Holy Spirit.

One of the attributes of the Born Again experience, is a Desire, to tell other people what Jesus has done for You. We're to be fruitful and multiply. It's part of our DNA now. My works will go through the Fire of Jesus's Love some future day; and all the wood, hay and stubble will burn away. I'm ready for the Bema Seat of Jesus Christ.

For a fact, I know of many, many, Catholics who are confused and do not understand their religion: they were born and "baptized" into, as an infant. They do not really experience the the fire of Jesus's love for them. Spend a Friday night on a sidewalk out in front of your Church, sometime. Go ye, where your parishioners are gathered.

If you can't multiply and bear fruit for Jesus,

you might be like Elizabeth:a barren womb. It requires the impending birth of Jesus into our Lives, to make us FRUITFUL.

    Have you given birth?

    M.

Yes. Babtizeing dont save you. You are saved by grace through faith. But you should be babtized. It shows the death, burial and resurection of Christ. Show that you are going to follow Him.

Matthew Chapter 12: 46 While he (Jesus) yet talked to the people, behold, [his] mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

48 But he (Jesus) answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

Christ is not a tittle but another name of his and you can place a second name after the first.
  • MES MANOHAR on 1 Corinthians 1 - 4 years ago
The name given to Mary's baby was 'Emmanuel' and 'Jesus' but not 'Christ'. It is only a title for 'anointed one'. How are we to address Him? Title first and name next 'Christ Jesus' like King David or how calling 'Jesus Christ' justified?

Yes Jonny Baptism signifies Christ died on the cross, went into the tomb, then arose & ascended back to God. This tells God you believe this and likewise God will always be there for you, only a prayer away. Offer prayers in Christ's name--that is your "password" to God.

I know what I think don't mean a hill of beans. But here goes, when a person is baptized you are saying to God, " I have made a decision for God and Jesus Christ. And in the same telling the world which side of the football you are on.It allows us a connection with our Savior- Jesus was baptized and we follow in His footsteps in believers baptism. My opinion is like my feet they stink sometimes. But here I believe I am on the right side of the football. Or I made a " RINGER " (horseshoes".

Alex-Baptism is like a mini crucifixion..Read Romans 6 We are buried under the water and are raised up into a new life. Baptism purification of thought and character. Jesus being crucified on the cross made provision for us to repent and live a holy life moment by moment, it does not mean once saved always saved.

  • Alex on 1 Corinthians 1 - 4 years ago
Once ya understand the ramifications of the cross you will neva mention water baptism again for the remission of sins.the cross was the greatest event to ever happen to this planet period.when ya command water baptism for the remission of sins you are in essence saying that his blood was not sufficient for the sins of the world, thats y the lord was so upset with peter commanding water baptism gbu.
  • Alex on 1 Corinthians 1 - 4 years ago
Paul is saying that he was not sent to baptise but to preach the Gospel the Word remember jesus said you are made clean by the word blood.Paul is saying LEST I MADE THE BLOOD TH CROSS OF NO EFFECT. Thats y the lord rebuked Peter 3 times with that sheet for commanding water baptism making the cross th blood of NO EFFECT.Nothin can be added to the cross not even water baptism or circumcision etc.

Yesterday God used me to preach a message. During sleep last night or early this morning my husband awoke and I asked what was he thinking about? He said he was having evil thoughts about a matter involving a certain person. He then quickly said he was going to read the Bible. I told him not to think on the bad things that were in his mind to gain understanding or peace but the positive...
