Bible Commentary for 1 Corinthians 7:13

Wesley's Notes for 1 Corinthians 7:13

7:11 But if she depart - Contrary to this express prohibition. And let not the husband put away his wife - Except for the cause of adultery.

7:12 To the rest - Who are married to unbelievers. Speak I - By revelation from God, though our Lord hath not left any commandment concerning it. Let him not put her away - The Jews, indeed, were obliged of old to put away their idolatrous wives, #Ezra 10:3|; but their case was quite different. They were absolutely forbid to marry idolatrous women; but the persons here spoken of were married while they were both in a state of heathenism.

7:14 For the unbelieving husband hath, in many instances, been sanctified by the wife - Else your children would have been brought up heathens; whereas now they are Christians. As if he had said, Ye see the proof of it before your eyes.

7:15 A brother or a sister - A Christian man or woman. Is not enslaved - is at full liberty. In such cases: but God hath called us to peace - To live peaceably with them, if it be possible.

When did prehistoric man live on earth? Also, what is your opinion of the Gap Theory? Thank you for helping me understand the Bible. May God bless you, Pat Whipps

Mary is not Jesus's Mom. Neither is His Josept His father.

He didn't. Adam was the first man. There was no half man and half ape.

People on here have written tons of comment on that. If you'll drop down to the 1-100 pages of history: you'll see we've discussed it to the max.

Start around page 50 and go forward. Scan for Genesis teachings.

    Hello Pat,

As a newbie, like me, you deserve better than a total shut down on all genuine help. This website is thankfully not like the hostile "Christian" forums where new visitors have to struggle to find past buried threaded answers because of a ridiculous rule that only a few men already gave 'brilliant' answers - unlikely, given closed minds like theirs. So, my answer will hopefully give a fresh and new angle to you because the Lord has anointed me to help his true followers finally understand the Bible

The only common ground I see that any reasonable Evolutionists and Creationists could agree on is that the prehistoric human era, B.C. now changed to B.C.E, was any time up to approximately 5300yrs ago when pictographs (early forms of drawings or scratchy writings) appeared. This would be any time before Noah's grandfather, Methuselah, became middle age, and would rule out the ridiculous idea that Enoch wrote a book (which is actually dated to 250 yrs before Jesus was born)

I now prefer the "Gap Theory" Creationist view, but was not aware of it for a long time. Clearly, Gen 1 opens with an already created watery planet Earth with submerged continents and a prehistoric hazy sky with higher concentrations of nitrogen. (God later reveals to Job that He also created the galaxy & universe). Unlike compromisers who adopt the whole evolutionary narrative, the main theme of Genesis reads like a 2nd creation period for the specific purpose of making this planet habitable to organic life (plants, animals, then humans. To me, the gap can be 1 day to millions of yrs &either 24hr days for each of the 6 because God can count 24hrs without the Sun yet, or 24by the 4th day

Genesis was intended for illiterate ancient Israelites to understand (and was likely dictated to Moses). God has said that nothing is impossible for Him, so that's another reason to accept 6x24hour days of intense activity

Most people don't realize that evolutionists cheat by measuring the soil of fossils

If you'll read Genesis, verse by verse, and work in all the "center of page reference scriptures" (you'll need a lot of paper), you'll understand that earth is much older than we think.

It's a huge study! At one point God turned the earth upside down. I believe literally. In one chapter the demons (inhabitants) were carping on satan for their drowning and loss of human bodies. There was much more to the war with satan than we know. Only a actual archaeological scientist could appreciate.

It kinda started with a study I had been doing on satan and the hierarchy of the demonic (Ephesians 6). It's ancient and bad thing is, that demons died in the flood and lost their bodies.

Benny Hinn teaches on the preAdamic era; but 99.98/100 people think he is a leftover from the 80's charismania movement. If I had time I'd continue, but it's enough to know securely that God has a reason and purpose for all He does. Benny has a 5 hr teaching on YouTube.

I stopped the study. My gift is, evangelism and I decided that's what I need to spend my time involved in.

Way back in the comment history, we were all doing Genesis studies, and you might find those interesting reads. Start around page 85 and work backwards to 100; then pages 201-200 will open up. :D Lots of reading.

Right now a few of our scholars are off somewhere and will be back soon I hope.

I can say one sure thing: I believe hoards of demons are being released on those unprotected (by the Holy Spirits baptism) and those who are lukewarm and on the fence; certainly those rioting in the streets.

Hang out a while. Chris will be back in a few weeks.

  • My husband has converted to Islam. He told me that if I refuse to convert to watch my head of I am dead. He is a serial adulterer . He is violent. I locked him out to save my life. I don 't believe that God wants me to be abused or killed by my husband. We have been married for 46 years. I love the man I married but he is not the same man I thought I married. He has lost his mind!
