2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world - This spirit is not properly received; for the men of the world always had it. But Christians receive the Spirit of God, which before they had not.

People's Bible Notes for 1 Corinthians 2:12

1Co 2:12 Now we have received . . . the spirit which is of God. We apostles. The Spirit received by all the apostles was not the spirit of the world, but the Holy Spirit which Christ promised them as a guide into all truth (Joh 16:13). Hence they were enabled to know what God imparted freely to them.

Anyone who has stood before an assembly preaching or teaching knows how true verses 1-5 are. The Holy Spirit just takes over and it is not your words, but His. Those of us that may lack the confidence to preach or teach Jesus, know that Paul also relied on not his own ability, but the words of the Holy Spirit. AMAZING

Paul reminds us in this chapter that we must be filled with the Holy Spirit to be able to discern things of this world. God's promises for us if we keep His commandments are also contained in "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." Let us love the Lord with all our heart and it shall be well with us.

BSP; What you say is most certainly the truth, but we shouldn't think that God winks at the ungodly because they are not Christians nor spiritually minded. God knows how much we all know or don't, and how much we do or not do with the knowledge and conviction He gives. Remember how Jesus rebuked the hypocrites and pronounced, Woe unto you! Having a spiritual mind has to do with being of the truth!
