2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world - This spirit is not properly received; for the men of the world always had it. But Christians receive the Spirit of God, which before they had not.

People's Bible Notes for 1 Corinthians 2:12

1Co 2:12 Now we have received . . . the spirit which is of God. We apostles. The Spirit received by all the apostles was not the spirit of the world, but the Holy Spirit which Christ promised them as a guide into all truth (Joh 16:13). Hence they were enabled to know what God imparted freely to them.

The catch 22 of this chapter is that we here on earth do mind the things of this place as we struggle to make sense of our current state, which is not the spirit of God. But Jesus exemplified it for our sakes, even to the an excruciating death! Was Jesus sent the Spirit by God. Did he work for it thru studying the scriptures which the Bible records in the gospel?. This is unresolved for me.
