Wesley's Notes for 1 Corinthians 13:9

13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part - The wisest of men have here but short, narrow, imperfect conceptions, even of the things round about them, and much more of the deep things of God. And even the prophecies which men deliver from God are far from taking in the whole of future events, or of that wisdom and knowledge of God which is treasured up in the scripture revelation.

People's Bible Notes for 1 Corinthians 13:9

1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. A reason why these gifts should pass away. Our knowledge is now only partial, and the prophecy only gives glimpses. These are all imperfect and fragmentary, and hence must give way to something better.

I love these verses. God looks at our hearts. Not what we do, but why do we do it. Are we wanting to be center stage or do we want to praise and glorify GOD?

This chapter is a beautiful description of how love should cause us to behave and how it should restrain us from behaving.
  • Abigael
God himself is charity so it is expected of us to love our brothers and sisters much till there's no one to love so that we can be like him.
  • Peter A. Okebukola
May God give us the grace to display charity (love) to all.

The Scriptures say that if we endure to the end and overcome, we shall be kings and priest to God. Jesus said, that in the Regeneration, when He shall sit on the throne of His glory; we too shall sit upon thrones judging His people. In Deut. 17:14-20 it is commanded the kings to write out a copy of the Law, and read in it continually: to be able to judge right, and so to not be lifted up in pride.
