Wesley's Notes for 1 Corinthians 12:10

12:10 The working of other miracles. Prophecy - Foretelling things to come. The discerning - Whether men be of an upright spirit or no; whether they have natural or supernatural gifts for offices in the church; and whether they who profess to speak by inspiration speak from a divine, a natural, or a diabolical spirit.

People's Bible Notes for 1 Corinthians 12:10

1Co 12:10 To another prophecy. The prophet was one who, under divine impulse, spoke words given by the Holy Spirit. To another discerning of spirits. The power of reading hearts and determining whether men spoke by the divine spirit, or some other impulse. To another [divers] kinds of languages. He who spoke with tongues, spoke languages that he had never learned (Ac 2:6-8). Sometimes their utterances were not understood by the audience. Hence another gift was the interpretation of languages, the ability to explain the meaning of those who spoke with tongues.

"...a more excellent way" is love. Love typically is burdens bearing that reliefs others of their challenges. Burdens bearing is living a life that comforts and inspires others. Being the hands of Jesus Christ to your world is one of the pointers to living inspiring and comforting life. The hallmark of Christianity is the more "excellent way". What speed do you tread the more excellent way daily?

Stephen, speaking in diverse languages and interpretation of diverse languages is listed last. Also, matt. 6:33 states but seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Being in the kingdom and His righteousness, the Lord will supply all our needs.
