It appears by the chronological order of 1Chronicles, that it may be from the family in the verses prior. 1Chronicles 4:8-9, also 1Chronicles 2:55,

When searching & studying the Scriptures, I find it very helpful to search key words along with names, in the website search bar. Sometimes the spellings vary with names especially from New & Old Testament.

Any ideas as to who/where Jabez is from?

I am also saying this scripture everyday with my name in it. My Assistant Principal said when she heard it, she immediately thought God wanted her to give it to me.

I found a book on the prayer of Jabez in a second hand store, and read it. The testimonies of how it helped a lot of women, I read it over and over and now I am getting around a lot better since I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Osteo Arthritis. I have also gotten into reading the Bible. Thank you Jesus for answered prayer Amen

Without Jesus Christ the Son of God and his words in you man only has a mirage for a God. The Son of God came and spoke NOT his own words but God his Father's words. God now speaks through his Son Jesus Hebrews 1:1] God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
[2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir

God answered the prayers of Jabez. He can hear our prayers too. All we need do its have absolute trust in Him. We should always remember that "Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested."

I think 1st Chronicles 4 40 is a wonderful verse. It is clear from the verse that the land was left by the descendants of Ham in a better place than they had found it and also it was even more hospitable and productive because of the descendants of Ham. It is therefore groundless to think that anything that falls into the hands of black people will deteriorate. Furthermore there are no biblical grounds to say the descendants of Ham are cursed, to this verse attributes excellence to Hamites.

Since I started praying this prayer on 09,15 the blessings have kept coming every day. 9 the blessings have just kept coming

I love this I had to look it up because I was told when I was at the Cancer Ward on today to say this prayer each and everyday and I am starting on today I will read it three time a day.

This reminded me of John chapter 21 when Jesus asked Peter the same question...The Lord asked him to feed his sheep...The Lord is asking me to feed my family that's how I got the message thank you my Lord and Amen

as I was praying this morning as Jabez example , I clearly heard our Lord's word in my heart asking me if I love my family (I am a widow with a son married (but at the moment saperated ,the wife has the little girl and the elder boy is with the father on the second floor of our family house). I replied to the Lord 'of course I love you. He asked me twice again the same question and my reply was the same. Then the Lord told me 'collect your family under one roof! This is what I wanted to do from the beginning but it's very hard when they are in and out of church all the time. Now I have to pray to the Lord and the HS to lead me and show me how. Thank you all who will see this note and pray with me for the reunion of my family.Gos Bless you all

I too claim this prayer...of Jabez! Oh that thou my God, would continue to bless me indeed past where I could ask or think , and expand my sphere of influence...expand my territory...that I would be a blessing to your Kingdom and within your Kingdom...and that you would bless my hands. And the work of my hands...that I will cause no evil or harm to anyone...and God granted me just what I asked!

Jabez's prayer is evident enough that our God is more than ready enough to turn our sorrows to joy if only we obey, trust and ask Him to take position in our lives.

Jabez rose above the circumstance of his birth, defiled the meaning of his name and became more honourable than his brethren. His secret is praying to the God of Israel. Thank God for this prayer.
