Testimony: The Promise

Lyman's testimony "The Promise" on 8/12/2012, 2:09pm...

A True Story

A young couple in thier mid-twenties had a three year old child, it got a rare case of what the doctors thought was insephilitis. The child was in pretty much a vegitative state. The little boy couldn't move any limbs and not even speak for the swelling in the brain.

The parents rushed the child to the best hospital they could find to start treatment right away. After about a week of multiple test the head doctor informed the parents that to prepare themselves, that this state was probably as good as it was going to get. The Mother was furious and began to curse God, and the Father being of very strong faith couldn't handle her doing this on top of the news about their Son,left the hospital room and went to the smoking area of the hospital. He began to pray, he knew it was not going to be like the movies and offer to take the boys place but instead prayed that if this was God's will then to please give both him and his wife the courage, determination, and strength to make the little boy's life as meaningfull and enjoyable as they could.

He also prayed that if God could touch the boy with his healing hands that the father would spend the rest of his life being a witness to what God did in healing the little boy. The father also prayed for forgivness of his wife, he knew she was only upset and angry because it was her child.

Within 12 hours after the father finished his prayers he seen the little boy's arm twitch, he yelled to his wife and then they yelled for the nurse, who in turn called the doctor. The doctor told the parents to not get excited, that it was only a muscle spasm due to muscle memory. The Father knew better! within 12 more hours he seen the boys legs twitch..again calling to his wife, nurse, and then the doctor...only again to have him dismiss this progress as the same before..a muscle spasm.

The next day the father was talking with his son, knowing he could hear him and made a joke, the boy responded with a smile! he called to his wife, nurse, and yes you guessed it, the doctor. When the doctor tried to dismiss this, the father spoke up and said "No" he responded when I told him something funny, there is no way that was just a muscle response or spasm. The doctor was steadfast and assured the parents there was no improvment but again, the father knew differently.

The next day the boy opened his eyes and you could see he was in there trying to respond to our voices! The doctors said there was nothing more they could do for him at the hospital that they were going to send him to the rehap clinic where he would more than likely stay for a couple of years. The father told the doctor, that his son would be out in less than 6 months! The doctor then looked at the father and said " well if he does it will be nothing short of a miracle".

After two weeks of theropy they no longer called the little boy by his given name "Seth" they called him the Miracle child. The lady that ran the rehap clinic said in all her years she has never witnessed anyone as in bad as shape as the little boy and to completly recover the way he did, he was released only after one month!

To get the last word in, the doctor again told the father that the little boy would never be able to do complicated math, sports, or have any fine motor skills due to his swelling and the damage that was done. The father later on watched his son learn to play guitar, play varsity socker for his high school and go to tech college where he's doing math he can't even pronounce < the dad >

I'm proud to say my Son is happy in his life now, no he don't wear some clothes I would rather him wear, no he don't wear his hair the way I would have him wear it, but he's alive and doing well. I didn't know how I could ever keep up my end of the promise and tell everyone about what God did for me and my Son but with the help of the internet and this site I hope God will show me mercy in the fact it took me so long to witness to others about this great thing he did.

I know its hard for some people to keep the faith when a family member passes or something tragic happens but that is when we need to be the most faithfull no matter how hard it is for us. Sometimes we don't know and perhaps will never know what his perpose is at the time but we need to have faith :)
