My Testimony of how I became a christian.
From my youth, I was only religious with no knowledge of God and what he was all about. I was raised in a religious home that had really strange beliefs about God, with no knowledge of spiritual things. I was a rebellious sinner from as far as I could remember. I only appeared to be a well mannered youth to my family, friends an others. But I always felt that I just didn't fit in with anyone or anything. I kept my feelings to my self because I never had but a few close friends growing up. My families religion meant we would go to church on a Sunday from morning to night. I mostly fell asleep on the pews because the service was boring and it didn't make any sense to me. I was taught in order to receive God, in my heart, I had to seek for a sign from heaven. So when I got home I would pray and pray and nothing happened. So me, unknowingly, rebellious to God by nature, I lied and said I saw a star appear in the sky in the day time. So my family said I had to seek peace in my heart and I was saved. I look back on it and realized now, that I was not saved neither were they.
In 1995 my life was spiraling out of control by then, I realized something was missing in my life and I didn't know what. I became suicidal, depressed, more sinful. I had no knowledge about the Holy Bible, because I tried reading it but it made no sense to my carnal mind. I had gone through a bad divorce and had a young child from a previous marriage, that husband was deceased. My young child and I moved to another state in 1995.
I had tried by that time several religions, but they only made me more confused about God. Then I felt compelled to obtain the Holy Bible and I asked God to reveal himself to me and help me with my life. My eyes started to open up as if scales had fell from them. I was starting to understand God's salvation plan for my life for the first time. When I realized in the Holy Bible I was a wicked sinner, it was shocking to say the least. I will list some sins that the Word of God convicted me of. These are some sins the Lord Jesus led me to repent of which were: lying, stealing, smoking cigarettes, suicidal thoughts, dope smoking(cocaine, marijuana, prescription drugs (greek word pharmekeia), joining the army, fornication, lewdness, drunkenness, lasciviousness, co- habitation, hateful in my heart(same as murder) called an Evangelist & Associate Pastor, abortions (7) coveting, fraud, swines flesh, seafood, gluttony, profaning the 7th day holy sabbath(saturday), television, movies, gambling, adultery, selfish ambitions, ungodly music, ungodly & dirty videos, unforgiving, blasphemy, malicious, astrology, devil worshipper, stubborn, sports, dirty jokes, orgies, filthy communications, idolatry, bi-sexuality, rude, mean, trusted in weapons, unclean, taking God's name in vain, about to pose for a pornographic magazine, cross dressing, holidays, birthdays, etc. too many more to list all.
I realized according to the Word of God that I needed salvation found only in Jesus Christ. I became so convicted and godly sorrowful that I fell to my knees in true repentance(turned/stopped)and cried bitterly for all of the ungodly sins I had so ungodly committed before this holy Lord God. Some sins I didn't know were sins immediately, and some I didn't want to give up on right away. But God led me to true repentance of all sins. I then became a new creature in Christ Jesus, born again of God.
Now the things I used to love now I hate and the spiritual things I didn't understand, now I have perfect understanding and knowledge. I discovered that my sins sent this precious Jesus to the cross at Calvary to save me from my sins. I am now washed in the blood of the Lamb, justified, forgiven, glorified, cleansed by God. I had at one time committed, just about every sin before this Holy God. I look back over my old sinful, wretched life and I am too ashamed of these sinful acts committed before God. Now I am free from all unrighteousness by the power of God. Jesus has become my life and by the Holy Spirit he has empowered me to keep the commandments of Christ Jesus, my Messias. I love God for first loving me and giving his life to me. I truly appreciate his grace and tender mercy. I love God so very much because I have been forgiven much. I now show God love by keeping his commandments. How can I not love such a great and faithful Creator like the Lord Jesus Christ, my God and Saviour. Amen
