Testimony: God Rescued Me

Tay's testimony "God Rescued Me" on 7/22/2015, 1:58am...

Praise the Lord everyone! I hope you are doing well. I was a little hesitant to post because of safety reasons but I realized that I should share what God has done for me because my testimony may hopefully encourage others to give themselves to Christ and do exactly what He states in his Word so that they may inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. I also hope that this testimony reaches out to the young people of today's generation so that they may give themselves to Christ and commit themselves to him as well. I am a young person too, 16 years old to be exact. This is the true story of how I found God and what he has done for me.

I was 16 years old when I found God and became a Christian. Now, before I came to Christ, I was already familiar with Him, considering the fact that my family is religious. However, I did not KNOW Him like I do know. I was a young person who was of the world back then. Even though I was still worldly, the topic of baptism came up in my mind. My mother and I were not really in the church at that time and I felt a little weird, being as though I was the only teen in my family who has never been baptized, which is why I brought it up. I would try to indulge myself in God's Word, but I would stop because I didn't always comprehend what God was saying in his Word. Later on, my mother and I began to attend church.
We visited my former babysitter's church with her and we enjoyed ourselves while there. However, we didn't exactly feel anything that was Holy while there. We would just sit there and listen to the pastor preach, but we didn't feel anything. It got to the point where I stopped going and my mother would try to get me to go back but I would tell her I just didn't feel like going. I was never baptized in that church.
Pretty soon, my mother found a new church for us to attend. When I first walked in I instantly felt different because it was big enough to move around in and there were many intricate and beautiful designs to represent Christ and and God's Word that lined the walls. I also noticed how crowded it was because the day I went, it was Easter Sunday. After service that Sunday, I knew I had found my true church home. Right after that, my mother and I began to attend that church regularly. We met new faces while there and those new faces became our good friends and it has remained that way to this day!
After we became closely affiliated with our church, the topic of baptism came up once again. I was honestly terrified. I believe that terror came from my flesh. The enemy, which was satan, infiltrated my mind and made me think about all of the things I would have to give up once I became born again and my flesh didn't want to give all of that up. That conjured up extremely hesitant feelings because all I could think about was my life turning upside down if I did this. My mom encouraged me though. She told me that I was doing the right thing by being born again and I knew this but I was still afraid. On the night that I was in church, I was speaking to one of my elders in the church about baptism. He asked me questions and he was very expressive and passionate about what he was telling me in regards to me being baptized for the remission of my sins. He had told me that he was going to get everything ready for me so that I could be baptized that same night. Immediately, I declined and asked him if I could have more time, that I had questions to ask about it. He understood and let me make up my mind. A few days after that, my church was offering to baptize five people the night I was there. As one of my elders called for the people who wanted to be baptized, as nervous as I was, I ignored the enemy and stood up and walked toward my elder. I felt like I was going to throw up but of course, that was just a trick of the enemy to get me to turn back, which I of course did not do. Before I was taken downstairs, the same elder I first spoke to about baptism took me to the side and had me repeat a prayer that he said. The prayer was for me to be filled with the Holy Ghost. It was three of us. Me, a younger girl and a boy who looked to be around my age. The girl and I changed into our baptismal robes in one room and the boy in the other. When I came out, I still had that knotty feeling in my stomach, but I tried to ignore it.
Finally, it came time for someone to be baptized. I volunteered to go first. The water was cold but I braved it. The man who baptized me said everything he needed to say before he dipped me under. When I rose up out of that water, immediately, I felt an amazing and warm feeling in my stomach. I began to jump up and down as I rejoiced for The Lord has brought me out of my sin and saved me. At the time I couldn't think "Oh my goodness I just caught the Holy Ghost!" because I was too busy feeling what I felt. My mind was completely blank but I could hear people screaming "Hallelujah!" around me.
Finally, things calmed down and I was led out of the water. I was still crying tears of happiness though as I went in the back room with a sister in my church whom I feel very comfortable with. According to the King James Version of the Bible, the scripture John 7:38 reads "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. That is exactly what happened to me because that scripture is referring to the Holy Ghost and I believed in Him.
Ever since then, I haven't been able to get enough of God's Word. I have found a stronger and newer love for God and the Son of God. I have been saved for four months and all I listen to is mostly Gospel music and I read the Bible every chance I get and I pray every morning and night. Sometimes I'll even find myself talking to God like I'm talking to a very close friend. Ever since I have let God come into my life, he has been blessing me more and more and I have been seeing his goodness. I have had nothing but straight A's on my report card for all four quarters of my high school year.i also have received grades of 92 or higher on my final exams for all of my classes.
I no longer behave the way I used to because I know what God requires of his people. I have been doing my very best to follow His Commandments. I have been asking for things in prayer and I have noticed that I have been receiving answers and seeing signs because in God's Word, the scripture Matthew 7:8 reads "For everyone that asketh receiveth" but you must remain patient and observant while waiting for God to answer.
In conclusion to my testimony, I just thank God for giving me the opportunity to come across this website to share what God has done for me. I hope that this testimony will help others make a decision that they may be struggling with. I just want those struggling to know that in the Bible, according to 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your cares upon him; for he careth for you. God never changes. He is always there. He has so much love for each and every one of you. Time is winding down and God is coming back. He is coming back for His righteous people to live with Him in Heaven and when I stand before God at the end of my life, I want to be able to say " Lord I used everything you gave me to please you and do good works for others on earth" I want to see His Face in peace. Please take my word for it young people. Start your journey with God today. You surely will not regret it. Thank you for taking the time to read my testimony! May God bless all of you and have a blessed one.
