He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey.
And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand ofthe king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;
They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people ofthe prince that shall come shall destroy thecity and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end ofthe war desolations are determined.
And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two ofthe sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon thecity boldly, and slew all the males.
So they sent and gathered together all the lords ofthe Philistines, and said, Send away the ark ofthe God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all thecity; the hand of God was very heavy there.
And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower ofthe watchmen to the fenced city.
Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street ofthecity, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into thecity, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto thecity; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.
And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed bethe man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke ofthecity ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.
And they took the things which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge ofthe sword, and burnt thecity with fire.
