Talk is cheap. We all fall short at times.Praise the Lord that He measured and measures up for us or we would all go to hell. Our sin nature is in constant rebellion. The only thing we can do with it is to believe it went to Calvary in Christ, and it did thanks to Him!Notice in this passage it is His grace that teaches us.We should be gracious to others and not so judgemental. That is His job!

Joan, you asked"are we missing the mark" One cannot deny ungodliness (verse 12) if one does not know what godliness is. One cannot deny worldly lusts, (verse 12) if one does not live in the Truth, Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life. All of Titus 2 is speaking to God's elect. "The mark is missed," when one is following the flesh and not living by faith.

Let no man despise thee. Hypocrisy. A person, especially Christians, are despised when they do not follow their own preaching. Say one thing, do another. Speak righteousness, do evil in their lives. And are seen by others.

I think that Titus 2 speaks sound doctrine. If ALL of us on this planet followed the scripture, Titus 2, this world as we know it today, would be less dysfunctional.
