Wesley's Notes for Revelation 1:20

1:20 Write first the mystery - The mysterious meaning of the seven stars - St. John knew better than we do, in how many respects these stars were a proper emblem of those angels: how nearly they resembled each other, and how far they differed in magnitude, brightness, aa& other circumstances. The seven stars are angels of the seven churches - Mentioned in the eleventh verse. #Rev 1:11 In each church there was one pastor or ruling| minister, to whom all the rest were subordinate. This pastor, bishop, or overseer, had the peculiar care over that flock: on him the prosperity of that congregation in a great measure depended, and he was to answer for all those souls at the judgment seat of Christ. And the seven candlesticks are seven churches - How significant an emblem is this! For a candlestick, though of gold, has no light of itself; neither has any church, or child of man. But they receive from Christ the light of truth, holiness, comfort, that it may shine to all around them. As soon as this was spoken St. John wrote it down, even all that is contained in this first chapter. Afterwards what was contained in the second and third chapters was dictated to him in like manner.

People's Bible Notes for Revelation 1:20

Re 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars. The Lord himself at once explains what the seven stars and seven candlesticks symbolize. The seven candlesticks represent the churches, or organizations appointed to "let their light shine" (Mt 5:16) and become "the light of the world" (Re 5:14). And the seven stars are the angels of the churches. These were, I think, the evangelists of the churches.

This book is also one of my well read book and i love it.He also say blessed are those that read and keep these things in memories of what he warned us .also he warned us not to add are take from his words are else he would add the plagues and if we take anything he will take away our part from the book of life .i also love how he make everything that he told us he made very transparent (clear) .

Yes that is true. It's an amazing book about the love of God and how he will triumph over evil and save and redeem the faithful in the end. Interesting though is that most has already come to pass as it says these things are at hand and will happen quickly. Dire encouragement for Christians enduring horrific persecution.

A book that proceeds from the throne of God. He gives it to Jesus. Jesus is the central figure of this book. He holds the candle sticks on his hands and holds the keys of hades and death. Jesus is in charge of His church and those that die have assurance of Resurrection. This is an open book that should be understood because it reveals Jesus and His love
