People's Bible Notes for Matthew 7:26

Mt 7:26 Heareth these sayings . . . and doeth them not. The hearer who obeys not is likened to the foolish man who built his house on the sand. Every one knows how transitory and shifting is a sandy foundation. Whole towns on the Missouri or lower Mississippi have been undermined and gone into the vortex because they were built upon the sand. So will fall the disobedient.

This entire chapter the Lord is drawing a line of separation between good and evil. At the end the people were astonished because he taught with authority, meaning power, and certainty.

I am to treat others as I want to be treated : I love me and want the best for me and so should I do to those around me : Not expecting anything in return from them : God will recompence what I do. This is also to the ones I do not like to be around : If they need a thing and I have it I am to do the best I can for all when it is in the power of my hand to do it. I can only do with what I have and not what I have not. With my Lord God help I will walk pleasing to my Lord. Give as unto the Lord !!!

God, and indeed the Bible admonishes everyone to love, and love is the summary of God's twelve commandments. Genuine agape love for our neighbours and for God is what God require from us. Therefore if we expect other to love us, we must love them also, love is the fulfilment of the law .
