Wesley's Notes for Matthew 18:7

18:7 Wo to the world because of offences - That is, unspeakable misery will be in the world through them; for it must needs be that offences come - Such is the nature of things, and such the weakness, folly, and wickedness of mankind, that it cannot be but they will come; but wo to that man - That is, miserable is that man, by whom the offence cometh. Offences are, all things whereby any one is turned out of, or hindered in the way of God.

Discussion for Matthew 18

  • Matt
Yes, when someone comes to you and sincerely asks you to forgive them, you forgive them. Otherwise, He will not forgive you when you sin/ trespass against Him. If they don't come to you, you should forgive them in your heart so it doesn't wear on you. You don't have to go around them, necessarily, but forgive them to show you are spiritually mature/ complete.

Vs.18-35: God wants us to forgive all that offend us. If Christ could pay the supreme price for our sins by dying on the cross, He wants us, likewise to forgive all men-70×7 times. Wao! Our God is sp loving and compassionate! If only we as humans cpuld follow God's word on daily nasis, we shall bw living in Heaven here on Earth. God bless is all that are obedient to this command. Amen.

He doesn't tell us to act like a child, He says to become as a child. When you think about it, unless a child is neglected, a child trusts that his needs will be met, without having to ask the parents daily to provide. In trusting Jesus, we must do the same, fully trusting His righteousness and His sacrifice on the cross, and not our own works. I hope this helps!

A child is so trusting : not afraid !! Converted is a turning from to a turning to . The Grace of God is the efficient cause, human agency the responding effect . The grace of God is Truly Amazing !!

Jesus said that his disciple must be like little children. Little children are humble and teachable and we must be like them in this way.
