People's Bible Notes for Matthew 16:16

Mt 16:16 And Simon Peter answered. With the impetuosity and impulsiveness that were ever manifested in him, Peter replied at once and expressed the faith of all the apostolic band. Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. This confession not only sees in Jesus the promised Messiah, but in the Messiah recognizes the divine nature. The confession of Peter is the one Christian confession of the New Testament and of the apostolic age, and the very foundation of the church, into which all saints are built as living stones of the temple.

We give OUR lives to God of our own free will and trust He is in control of OUR lives.God gives us all free will to choose. When we dedicate our lives,or the lives of our loved ones to God,we are trusting He knows what is best 4 them. These people that ask that,r they Christians?Have they asked God to watch over their loved ones?If not, they have no right to accuse God.If they are, then trust God.

Dear Christine: If you will look at more than just Matthew 16, you will see The Lord Jesus Christ came to save all - 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Children are never condemned to hell. Salvation is a free gift for all who choose it.

I've had people come against me with this question? How come Jesus saved you, and not others? (specially when a little one dies ) I don't have the answer and I've been searching for what to say. Please help if you can!
  • Well wisher for verse 28
"Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." I think it refers: - Matthew 16:23- ..."Get away from me, Satan! You are an obstacle in my way, because these thoughts of yours don't come from God, but from man." - From above verse it is clear that Satan also were there. -Hence "Some here" refers not Man, it refers "Satan" and who will not die until they have seen the Son of Man as King.
