People's Bible Notes for Matthew 15:4

Mt 15:4 For God commanded. See Ex 21:17. He that curseth, etc. The Ten Commandments promised long life to those who honored father and mother (Ex 20:12 De 5:16). Here the Lord quotes the punishment of dishonoring them. (See also Le 20:9.) On nothing did Moses insist more than respect for parents.

Insight777: This is just to help you understand the right meaning of Matthew15:26NIV. "It's not right to take the childrens bread and toss it to their dogs."CHILDREN meansJews. BREAD means the word of God. DOGS means.Gentiles."We" were/are considered unclean to Jews..Jesus wasn't calling her a dog, being mean.He talked to her in a way she could understand. With her answer he was moved, and so healed.

Im just trying to help you understand the right meaning of Matthew15:26 NIV "It is not right to take the childrens(Jews) bread (Word of God)and toss it to their dogs." (Gentiles) 24:" I have only been sent to the lost sheep of Israel." He was trying to save HIS "lost sheep" first. When the woman gave her reply, jesus found favor in her and healed her daughter. God is good.

Thank you Lord, that worship reveals our hearts towards you. May your name be praised, Lord, that you accept our true worship. Amen!

Jesus referred to dogs because dogs faithfully follow their master regardless of what their master thinks. Some masters take advantage of dogs loyalty, these dog fighters beat the dogs until they learn to fight, to death so that they can turn a profit from the fight. Jesus knew that the woman asking for help was not his follower, her beliefs were not what Jesus taught yet she converted to truth.
